William “Jeff” Stanton, Sr.

  William “Jeff” Stanton, Sr., age 93, of McDonough, GA died Tuesday, April 29, 2014.  He was born in Conyers, GA to the late William Robert and Ethel Jane Knight Stanton. Mr. Stanton is currently a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. He formerly served as an elder and on numerous committees at Timberridge Presbyterian Church for many years. Jeff was a WWII Veteran serving in the US Army as part of the Signal Corps during the Normandy Invasion. After his military service,  Mr. Stanton worked for 25 years with Gerber Baby Foods. Later he owned and operated the South Lake Realty Company and then retired from W.J.  Stanton Appraisal Company. Jeff was a member of the McDonough Masonic Lodge and the American Legion Post 55. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

   Jeff is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marion Stanton; children: Debbie (Colin) Lowe, McDonough; Bill (Donna) Stanton, Jr, Vacaville, CA; Rebecca (Ronnie) Folkes, McDonough; grandchildren: Jeff Stanton, III, Wyatt, Emma, Ivey Lowe, Brie Castellaw; great-grandchildren: Isabella Stanton; William Stanton, IV; and sister: Betty Ehteridge, Spanish Fort, AL.

  Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Timberridge Presbyterian Church with Rev. Matt Allison and Rev. Dr. Donna Mote officiating. Interment followed at Timberridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Faith Presbyterian Church, 922 Hwy.  81 East, McDonough, GA 30252. Charles David Bledsoe

  Mr. Charles David Bledsoe, age 68, of McDonough, Georgia passed away May 6, 2014.  Charles was born in Porterdale, GA the son of the late Winford Wade and Mary Lucia Turner Bledsoe. Charles was a member of Turner United Methodist Church. He served his country in the US Marines.  He retired with 30 plus years as Director of the Henry County Recreation Department. Charles enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being active with his grandchildren, his dogs, sports, yard work, dancing, and his 51 Ford “The Blue Goose.” He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Tina Marie Bledsoe. 

  Survivors are his loving wife of 22 years, Ellen Groover Bledsoe of McDonough; children, William C. Bledsoe of Grants, NM, Michael D. Bledsoe of McDonough, Todd Linward Birchfield (Ruthanna) of McDonough, Kelly Birchfield Buttram (Carter) of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren, Megan Ann Bledsoe, Jacob David Bledsoe, Denis Bledsoe, Corey Adam Hall, Megan Brittany Hall, and Emily Mikala Hall; brothers, Wade Bledsoe (Eleanor) of McDonough, Dan Bledsoe (Ann) of McDonough; and a niece, Anna Marie Echols (Terry) of McDonough.

  Funeral services for Charles were held Friday, May 9 at Turner United Methodist Church with Rev. James Miller, Pastor Davie Riley and Rev. Leon Baxter officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Park. Dorothy Gravelle

  Mrs. Dorothy Gravelle, age 87 of McDonough, Georgia passed away May 11, 2014.  She was born in Sioux City, Iowa to the late William and Mabel Kunkle Wanzer. Dottie retired after 30 years as a Cobalt Programmer with the Civil Service and ten years with the County of San Diego as a Computer Analyst.  She was a member of the McDonough First Baptist Church, where she sang in the Senior Choir and also was a member of the Joliet, Illinois Acapella Choir while living there.  She also enjoyed square dancing in her earlier years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Gravelle and by brothers, Bill, Leroy and Joe Wanzer. 

  Survivors include her son and daughter in law, David Gravelle and Margit Gravelle Bantowsky of Olympia, WA; grandchildren, Shannon Lynn Novaria (James) of Columbus, OH, Joshua David Gravelle of Indianapolis, IN, Joel Aaron Gravelle of Scottsdale, AZ; great grandchildren, Alexandria Gravelle and Brock Novaria; sisters, Effie Wanzer of McDonough, GA, Mary Keagle of McDonough, GA, Sandra Neubauer of Las Vegas, NV and Florence (Joseph) Parks of Joliet, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert M. League

  Robert M. League, age 70, of Stockbridge, GA passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014.  He was born in Multnomah County, OR in 1943 to the late Collie League, Sr. and Annie Helen Chambers League. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1963-1968 and served during the Vietnam conflict. Upon returning home, he began his career with Southern Bell and retired from Bellsouth in 2001.  Robert and his wife, Claudette graduated from Henry County High School in McDonough, GA in 1962.He was preceded in death by his sister: Dorothy Helms, Stock-bridge, GA; brother: Collie League, Jr., McDonough, GA; and step-daughter: Debbie Rivers Youngblood, Hampton, GA.

  Robert is survived by his wife: Claudette Bond League; daughters: Audry Lantrip; Melanie League; step-son: Randy Rivers, Jr.;  grandchildren:  Greg, Jr., and Ashley Youngblood; Randy, III and Kassie Rivers; Andrew and Jessie Youngblood; Abbey Lantrip; Alex Lantrip; great-grandchildren:  Jasper Young-blood; Lilly Rivers; Wyatt Youngblood; Braxton Rivers; nephew: Bennie Helms; and niece: Bonnie Helms.

  Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Joey Blanks officiating. Lucile G. Cromer

  Lucile G. Cromer, age 74, of McDonough, died May 7, 2014.
