Lois O. Carney

  Lois O. Carney, 81, of Villa Rica, GA, passed away April 26, 2014 after a final bout with cancer. She was born near Connellesville, PA, June 29, 1932 at home to her parents Edgar and Pauline Oglevee on Oglevee Lane. She attended College at Alfred College in New York and married W. Kirk Carney on July 5th, 1951. As a housewife she raised two sons that she was proud of. The family lived in Indianapolis, IN, Haddon Township, NJ, San Diego, CA, and Mesa, AZ as the boys grew up. Both sons graduated from the University of Virginia with Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering. Lois entered the workforce in Cherry Hill, NJ as a florist; a trade she had learned as a young girl from her father.  Lois and Kirk moved to McDonough, GA in 1977 to open and manage Oglevee Products Inc. which at the time was the second largest private employer in McDonough. Upon Kirk’s death in 1985, she assumed the role of General Manager of Oglevee Products in Georgia. She became Production Coordination Manager for all Oglevee affiliates and served on the Board of Directors of Ogleevee Limited until she retired.

  She is survived by Mark and Suzette Carney of Villa Rica, GA; Bruce and Denise Carney of Anderson, SC; grandson Christopher E. Carney of Columbia, SC; granddaughter Elizabeth A. Carney Warren of Columbia, SC; step granddaughter Ashley E. Evans of Anderson, SC; and step grandson Harrison A. Barnett of Anderson, SC.

  Flowers may be sent to Haisten Funeral Home on May 9 or donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Inurnment will occur at 1 p.m. at Eastlawn Cemetery in McDonough. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough on May 9 at 2 p.m. with a visitation to follow.  Haisten Funeral home of McDonough, 770-914-8833, www.haistenfunerals.com.

 John Malcolm Mikels, Jr.
  Mr. John Malcolm Mikels, Jr. age 78 of Jonesboro, Georgia died May 4, 2014.
  Survivors include his children, Karen Blackmon of Jonesboro, Patricia (Bill) Kaufman of Dahlonega, Dawn (Doug) Drew of Peachtree City, Greg Mikels of McDonough; grandchildren, Brandon, Zachary and Lindsay Blackmon, Andrew and Olivia Kaufman, Kyle and Courtney Drew and Aaron Mikels; great grandchildren, Preston Feltman, Kayden Blackmon and Kendall Mikels.

Gail Barnes Norman
  Mrs. Gail Barnes Norman, age 58 of McDonough, Georgia passed away April 30, 2014.
  Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Douglas Wayne Norman of McDonough; son, Jonathan (Hannah) Norman of Jackson; grandson, Hampton Norman; siblings, Elaine (George) Durden of Byron, Bobby (Pam) Barnes of Broxton, Judy (Steve) Fannon of Warner Robins and Pam (Rex) Smith of Ambrose; numerous nieces and nephews.  
  Funeral services were held May 4 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home.  Pastor Terrell Hopkins officiated. Martha Price
  Martha Price, age 69, of Dallas, GA, formerly of McDonough passed away May 1, 2014.  
  She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles “Chuck” Price of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Ricky Whitman of Stockbridge; granddaughter and her husband, Chastity and Greg Smith; great grandchildren, Katie and Justin Smith; mother, Helen Martha Branch of Riceboro; aunt, Lynette Brown and cousin, Carl Powell; brother and sister-in-law, Sammy and Jackie Boney of McRae; niece, Nicki and Chad Gorday and grand nephews, Cole, Sam and Jack Gorday; her 2 Grand Dachshunds, Willie and Abagail; cousins, Elaine and Robert Hearn of McDonough and cousins, Nicole, Tim and Ava.

Christine Jane Gower
  Christine Jane Gower, age 84, of Stockbridge, GA died Sunday, May 4, 2014.
  Christine is survived by her children: Rebecca (Jack) Gregory, St. Simons Island; Robert (Joan) Mollohan, Kenner, LA; Jane Mitchell, Stockbridge; Emily (Bob) Smith, St. Simons Island; Edward (Tammy) Mollohan, Stockbridge; Greg (Kathy) Gower, Sharpsburg; Gary Gower, Stockbridge; Carolyn (John) Warner, Jacksonville, FL; siblings: Thelma Minnig, Mildred Minnig, Harry Crede, Delores Buhl, John Crede, Marjorie Butler; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
  Funeral Services were held May 8 at St. James The Apostle Catholic Church with Father Liam Coyne officiating. Interment Sherwood Memorial Park. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Muriael A. Sikes
  Muriael A. Sikes, age 91, of Hampton, GA died Tuesday, April 29, 2014.
  Muriael is survived by her children: Larry (Donna) Sikes; Joe (Jenny) Sikes; Betty (Michael) Ridling; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-children and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
  Funeral Services were held May 3 at Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Doug Lawson officiating. Interment Jones Memorial Cemetery. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Lois Samples
  Lois Samples, age 78, of McDonough, GA died Tuesday, April 29, 2014. She was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Harry Cleo and Eula Louise Rumph Edwards. She was a member of Highview Baptist Church.
  Lois is survived by her husband: Willie Dean Samples, McDonough, GA; son: Virgil D. Presnell; daughter: Angela Allred; step children: Sheila, Danny, Stanley; sister-in-law: Hazel McClure; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
  Funeral services were held May 2 at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Interment Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
