Flapjack Fundraiser

  On May 17 from 8 to 10 a.m. the community is invited to attend Sweet Serenity Incorporatedís Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebees, 3676 Hwy. 138 SW in Stockbridge. This fundraiser supports the organizations mission in fighting hunger and poverty in the community. This is a great breakfast outing for the family. Blood Drive May 4

  On Sunday, May 4, from 2 until 9:30 p.m. LifeSouth Community Blood Centers will be at Regal Cinemas in McDonough for The Amazing Spider-Man 2ís opening weekend. The first 15 donors will receive a limited edition Spider-Man shirt along with other goodies. The theater is located at 115 Foster Drive in McDonough.

 

Griefshare

  Henry Baptist Church has Griefshare each Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m. It is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them.  Their Griefshare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help.  You will gain access to valuable Griefshare resources to help you recover from  your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.  The church is located at 4035 Jodeco Road, McDonough.

 

Stockbridge High

Multi-Year Reunion

  The Stockbridge High School multi-year reunion for classes 1966 through 1982 will be held  October 18 at the Atlanta Airport  Marriott Hotel in College Park. The  price is $70 per person until September 1. The cost is $80 cash at door. For more info call Keith Craddock at 678-618-1607.

 

Handbell Choir Concert

  A Joyful Ring Handbell Choir at McDonough Presbyterian Church invites the community to their Spring Concert on Sunday, May 4 at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary.  Joining the Handbell Choir will be the Chancel Choir and the Menís Chorus, as well as guest artists.  Come see the variety of techniques used to make music with handbells. It promises to be an evening of enjoyable vocal and instrumental music. The church is located at 427 McGarity Road in McDonough.

 

Toastmasters meeting

 If you have a fear of public speaking or would simply like to become a better speaker, Henry County Toastmasters can help. The group meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Henry Medical Center Education Building (in the Boardroom), 1133 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge. Grief Support Group

  Compassionate Friends Grief Support Group is for parents of those who have lost a child. Meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at Salem Baptist Church on Hwy. 155 at 7:30 p.m. For more info contact Freddie Saye at 678-925-4027.

 

Host Families needed for Foreign Exchange Students

  Host families are needed to host foreign exchange students who will attend local high schools. Students come for one school year only. They will have their own insurance and their own spending money. Students will not smoke, drink or drive. For more information please contact Ms. Jinx Ratcliffe at 770-477-1376.

 

NAMI Meeting

 National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) meetings are held at Jodeco Road United Methodist Church every Thursday night from 7 - 8:30 p.m. sharp. There are two meetings; one for consumers and one for families. Coffee and water are served. The church is located at 1500 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge.
