Margia Coats Benefield
Mrs. Margia Coats Benefield, age 91, of Murfreesboro, TN formerly of McDonough, GA passed away February 25, 2014. Mrs. Benefield was born in East Point, Georgia the daughter of the late William Pascal and Laura Branan Coats. Mrs. Benefield was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Murfreesboro,TN and a former member of Salem Baptist Church in McDonough. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, feeding and watching the birds, sewing, cross stitching, and working crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by several siblings; Harry P. Coats, Paul E. Coats, W. B. “Jack” Coats, Joe R. Coats, Mary Frances Aubry, Mildred “Bunny” Williams and Pauline Coats.
She is survived by her husband of 72 plus years, James W. Benefield of Murfreesboro, TN; children, Patricia Rogers (Paul) of McDonough, Linda Valentine (Aldean) of Murfreesboro, and Keith W. Benefield (Renee) of Killen, AL; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; brother, Ronald B. Coats of Stockbridge; sister, Ruth Strawn of McDonough; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held February 28 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Statham officiating. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery in Forest Park. Patsy Beckwith Boone
Mrs. Patsy Beckwith Boone, age 72, of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away February 28, 2014. Patsy was born in Thomasville the daughter of the late Jesse Edward and Evie Lee Banks Beckwith. She was a member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church. Patsy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, serving in her church as a Sunday school teacher, bereavement, and the food pantry, reading and watching movies. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin and Edward Beckwith.
Survivors are her husband of 52 years, Cecil Boone of Locust Grove; daughters, Kelly Boone Bush (Mike) of Locust Grove and Jessica Boone of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew (Casey) and Matt; great grandchildren, Jace, Maddox and Andie; sister, Jinx O’Neal (Jack) of High Falls; sister-in-law, Nancy Beckwith of Savannah; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

David E. Sheets, Sr.
David E. Sheets, Sr., age 63, of McDonough, GA, died March 1, 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Sheets, son, David Sheets, II; daughter-in-law Samiah Sheets, grandchildren Josh, Mikey, Charity, Katherine, Promise, Kayden. Daughter Katrina (Sheets) Beckett, son-in-law Michael Beckett, grandchildren Jasmine and Jerrell Beckett. One brother and three sisters, numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held March 8 at McDonough Road Baptist Church in Fayetteville. South Care Cremation and Funeral Society.
Marlene Riggle, age 79, of Stockbridge, GA died March 4, 2014. She was born in Bloomington, IN to the late Ralph and Lydia Camden. Mrs. Riggle was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Norris Riggle.
Marlene is survived by children: Robert (Amber) Riggle, McDonough; Kenneth Craig (Denise) Riggle, Laurel, MS; Lisa (Marvin) Latta, Rex; John (Kim) Riggle, McDonough; Elizabeth (Scott) Johnson, Stockbridge; grandchildren: Tori, Violet, Adam, Emily (Brandon), Kaitlyn (Kaleb), Melodi, Meghan (William), Benjamin, Seth, Samuel, Sydney, Katherine, Aaron, Alex, Chandler, Luke; great-grandchildren: Vivian, Jacob, Brett, Addy, Liam; brother: William (Pamela) Garfinkle, Hollywood, FL; niece and nephews.

David Eason Haynie
Mr. David Eason Haynie, age 57 of McDonough, Georgia passed away March 5, 2014. He was born in Atlanta to the late Wiley Richard and Margaret Lydia Brown Haynie. David worked for Delta Airlines for 25 years and attended Eagles Landing Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing tennis and golfing.
Survivors include his son, Derek (Katherine) Haynie of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Madilyn and Grant Haynie; brother, Jack (Carol) Haynie of Houston, TX; nieces, Kirstie and Kelsey Haynie.

Mrs. Julia “Judy” Elrod, age 67 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away March 5, 2014. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Glenn Maples and Addie Jones Maples Hensel. Judy was employed with Baxter before moving into law enforcement, working with the Locust Grove Police Department, Clayton County Sheriff’s Department and retired from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department. She was a member of the Flippen United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time and caring for her family. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and quilting and watching and feeding the birds and hummingbirds at the feeder. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Louise Elrod and by a brother, Gene Maples.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Harold Elrod; children, Amy (Tony) Deas of Graniteville, SC, Fred (Amy) Elrod of McDonough and Jason (Amy) Elrod of McDonough; grandchildren, Gregory Deas, Hayden, Brooke, Allie and Ryan Elrod; siblings, Bill (Jackie) Maples of McDonough, Ilene Maples of Pine River, MN and Linda Truxton of Holiday, FL; step-father, Willis “Buck” Hensel of Park Rapids, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.

Gus Harp, age 72, of Stockbridge, GA died March 6, 2014. He was born in Albany to the late L.P. and Annie Belle Harp. Mr. Harp was a veteran of the United States Air Force, with 22 years of service. After retirement, he taught ROTC at Morrow High School for 23 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Harp, and grandson, Alex Harp.
Gus is survived by his former wife: Donna Harp; children: Judy Ann (Randall) Killebrew, Melbourne, FL; Eddie Thomas (Nancy) Harp, Douglas; Patrick (Christi) Harp, McDonough; sister: Elizabeth Miller, Albany; and 10 grandchildren.

James Allen Clark
James Allen “Poppy” Clark, age 69, of Conley, GA died March 7, 2014. He was born in Gadsden, AL to the late Elbert Dee and Margie Evelyn Bates Clark. Mr. Clark was employed by Wayfield Foods and a member of Peoples Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Poppy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jewell Clark; children, Randy Clark, Conley, and Tina (Sonny) Allen, Griffin; sister, Martha Jean (Bobby) Waldrep, Stockbridge; grandchildren, Brittany, Jordan, Isabella and Noah and several nieces and nephews.
