Downtown Hampton will be
hopping this weekend as locals and visitors alike gather for the
sixth annual Yellow Pollen Street Festival, scheduled for Saturday,
March 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event is hosted by
Hampton’s Downtown Development Authority and Main Street program.
More than 2,500 visitors are
expected for what organizers are calling “Hampton’s premiere event,”
which will feature food, crafts, entertainment and informational
As of Tuesday morning, 108
vendors were confirmed for the event, which is the largest group yet
as the festival continues to grow every year. They will line East
Main and West Main streets in downtown Hampton.
One of the featured guests is
Tom Bonnell, “beekeeper extraordinaire,” who is making a return
appearance at the festival. The LifeSouth Bloodmobile will be on
hand as well as a pace car from Atlanta Motor Speedway, among other
A stage will be set up for
various local musical acts. Madelyn Patterson, a Jackson native with
family ties to Hampton who made it to Hollywood on this season’s
edition of “American Idol,” will be one of the featured performers.
Other attractions planned for
the festival include bungee jumping, a 28-foot-high rock climbing
wall, pony rides, and various activities for the entire family.
Visitors coming into town for the event
Saturday can park at either end of Main Street for easy access.
