Wreaths are being hung and
lights are being strung, just in time for the second annual Locust
Grove Woman’s Club Christmas Tour of Homes, to be held on Saturday,
December 7, 2013.
During the 2012 tour Vanetta
Brown shared some of the history of Shoal Creek Baptist
Church, one of Locust Grove’s important landmarks.
A total of nine homes are
on the tour this year, including five favorites from last year’s
tour and four new destinations. The tour will begin at the L.G.
Woman’s Club, where guests will enjoy refreshments. There will
also be crafts and goods for sale, and those interested may set
up a table on the day of the tour for $10.
Jane Lute, club member and
one of the event’s organizers, said that last year’s tour was such a
great success, the women decided to continue the tradition.
“It was successful for us
last year, and it was fun and the community really enjoyed it,” said
Addresses of the homes on the
tour will not be released until the day of the event and
participants will need to check in at the Locust Grove Woman’s
Clubhouse to obtain a map. The self-guided tour will begin and 11
a.m. and end at 4 p.m.
Lute said that the homes on
the tour this year will bring a new element to the tour. In one of
the homes, the owner found an old trunk containing a family quilt,
and it’s reported that in another home, a ghost is in residence.
Tickets are $10 and may be
purchased in advance at the French Market, Moye’s Pharmacy in Locust
Grove, Old South Ceramics, Zebra House or through Woman’s Club
members. Tickets may also be purchased at the Woman’s Clubhouse,
located at 64 Club Drive, Locust Grove.
