Phillip Sladek

  Mr. Phillip Sladek, age 97 of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 11, 2013.  He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Prokop and Anna Srp Sladek.  He faithfully served his country in the United States Army in Germany during WWII and retired after 20 years of service.  He then worked in the billing department at Super Transport until they closed.  Phil was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the American Legion.  He enjoyed cooking and was a pet lover.  He never went anywhere without his boots and cowboy hat. 

  Survivors include his wife, Joan Sladek; stepchildren, Ben Dobbs, Terry Dobbs and Tonya Wright; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; nephew, Bob (Linda) White of Cleveland, Ohio.   A Memorial Graveside Service was held November 16 at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville with full military honors. Tiny Louise Branan Cook

  Mrs. Tiny Louise Branan Cook, age 75, of Locust Grove, GA passed away November 12, 2013.  Tiny was born in Henry County the daughter of the late Ruby Louise Hooten and James C. Branan. Tiny was an active member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church where she served in all areas of the church, served in all areas of the Locust Grove United Methodist Women, and enjoyed singing in the choir.  She served with the Piedmont Henry Medical Auxiliary for 20 plus years, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Red Hat Society, Locust Grove Woman’s Club, Locust Grove Historical Society Charter Member, and was always supportive and active with the cancer walk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lee Cook; a brother, Doug Branan; and a son-in-law, Phil Turner.   

  Survivors are her children, Martha Ann Turner, Donnie Cook, Buster and Tammy Cook all of Locust Grove, and Patty and Sammy Smith of Jackson; grandchildren, Chad & Wendy Turner, Tabby and Kel Lee, Devon and James Pirkle, Lindsay and Mitchell Chambers, Chelsea Cook, Katy Peters, Clay Peters, Matt and Ashley Peters, Ellen and Allison Cook; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Nell Norsworthy, Shirley Woodruff, Benny Branan, Leonard Branan, and Debbie Hall; several nieces and nephews.  

  Funeral services were held November 14 at the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. Rev. Bill Jackson, Rev. Doug Gilreath and Rev. Jim Buckman officiated. Interment Locust Grove Cemetery. Alvin Clinton Wilder

  Mr. Alvin Clinton “Pete” Wilder, age 94 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away November 13, 2013.  He was born in Henry County, Georgia, one of nine children of the late Arnet and Nora Kitchens Wilder. Pete served his country in the United States Army during WWII in Germany and Normandy.  He was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and retired from McDonough Power and Equipment Company after 20 years of service.  Pete was a cattle farmer most of his life and enjoyed going to the sale barn each Wednesday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelene Lunsford Wilder in 2009, by a daughter, Sandra Moore and a granddaughter, Sonya Moore both in 2011.   

  Survivors include his daughter, Linda (Tommy) Sykes of Griffin; son-in-law, Dickie Moore of Jackson; care person, Sarah Martin Cates of Locust Grove grandchildren, R. Clinton (Kim) Smith of Senoia, Sandy Walker of Griffin and Maria (Scott) Barnes of Jackson; great grandchildren, Keith Wood, Dale Wood, Jenna Smith, Zach Walker, Clay Walker, Cassie Barnes and Jodi Barnes; several great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Clarice Wilder of McDonough.

Glenda Conkle Price

  Mrs. Glenda Conkle Price, age 76, of Hampton, Georgia passed away November 13, 2013.  Glenda was born in Hampton, GA the daughter of the late  Troy Newman Conkle and Florine Campbell Conkle Clark. Glenda was a life-long member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, all of her church activities, cooking, flower gardening and reading. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ellis Conkle. 

  Survivors are her husband of 58 years, Wilbur Price; children, Wilbur Price, Jr. (Karen), Lynne Taylor (Greg), and Kenny Price (Janet) all of Hampton; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sister, Gerry Oliver of Hampton and several nieces and nephews.

Jacob Smith

  Jacob Smith, age 20, of Locust Grove, GA died November 10, 2013.  He was born in Anderson, SC to Duane and Tamara Smith.

  Jacob is survived by his parents: Duane and Tamara Smith; brothers: Walker Smith, Cannon Smith, all of Locust Grove; grandparents: Terry (Wanda) Kahler, Jackson; Judy White, Jackson; Keith (Yvonne) Smith, Greensboro; his best friend, cousin, Cameron Huntsinger; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

  Funeral Services were held November 14 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Doug Gilreath and Brother Gene Luke officiating. Interment Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Pauline Angela LaTour

  Pauline Angela LaTour, age 67, of McDonough, GA died November 13, 2013. She was born in Manhattan, NY to the late Santo and Pauline Patricola Ilardi.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Vincent Ilardi.

  Pauline is survived by her children:  James John LaTour, Jennifer Jeanne LaTour, Dominique Jo LaTour, Nicole Youmans; grandchildren:  Steven LaTour, Daniel Boggs, Jacob Junca, Emily Junca; great-grandchildren:  McKenzie Boggs, Ayden LaTour; siblings:  Anthony Ilardi, James Ilardi, Santo Ilardi, Verna Calderon; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donald Wayne Morrow

  Mr. Donald Wayne Morrow, age 73 of McDonough, Georgia passed away November 15, 2013. He was born in Arab, Alabama to the late Herman and Vivian Price Morrow. Don retired from ALCOA and enjoyed camping, collecting model cars, working puzzles and was a handyman. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Shirley Morrow.   

  Survivors include his wife, Judy Morrow of McDonough; children, Dwight Morrow of Fairburn, Denise Wilder of McDonough, Donald (Donna) Wilder of McDonough; sisters, Kerron (Jim) Lindquist of Senoia, Doris (Aaron) Maddox of Newnan; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

  Funeral services were held November 18 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home.  Interment Haisten/Eastlawn Memorial Park. Susan Pratt LeDoux

  Susan Pratt LeDoux, age 64, of McDonough, GA died November 15, 2013. She was born in Atlanta to the late Clifford Lair and Rubinelle Free Pratt.

  Susan is survived by her spouse: Carl LeDoux; sons: Bradley Jordan and Jamison Jordan; granddaughter: Callaway Jordan; sisters: Janet (Jeryl) Wall, Angela Hammrick and Phyllis Crotts and a brother: Kent Pratt.
