Ray Carlton Johnson

  Mr. Ray Carlton Johnson, Sr., age 80, of Jackson Lake passed away October 6, 2013. Mr. Johnson owned and operated Lakewood Auto Parts in Atlanta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila. 

  Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Shirley Johnson; sons, Ray Jr. and Eric; grandson, Taylor.

  A private graveside service for Mr. Johnson was held October 9 at Sherwood Memorial Park with Chaplain Don Daly officiating. Bryan Fletcher

  Mr. Bryan Fletcher, age 52 of Locust Grove, Georgia passed away October 7, 2013.  He was born in Macon, Georgia and received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, with highest honors, in 1983.  Bryan was a member of Avalon Church and was Vice President of Supply Chain Management at Georgia Power/Southern Company.  He enjoyed spending time at the lake, high performance cars, remodeling and carpentry. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rhonda Karen Fletcher. 

  Survivors include his wife of nearly 26 years, Christy Tarrer Fletcher of Locust Grove; children, Melissa (Calvin) Ellington of Newnan, Alan Fletcher, Jr., Jordan Fletcher and Michael Fletcher all of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Ansley and Cole Ellington; parents, William E. Fletcher, Sr. and Genevieve N. Fletcher of Macon; siblings, William E. (Rita) Fletcher, Jr. of Lizella, Joseph Kevin (Tammy) Fletcher of Mequon, Wisconsin, James Randall “Jim” (Kimberly) Fletcher of Stockbridge, father in law and mother in law, John L. and Lee C. Tarrer of Lawrenceville. 

  Funeral services were held October 11 from Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Gregory Cato

  Mr. Harold Gregory Cato, age 57, of Locust Grove, GA passed away October 9, 2013. Greg was born in Birmingham, AL the son of the late Harold Rudolph and Martha Clarice Herron Cato. Greg enjoyed spending time with family and friends, coaching sports, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, traveling, camping, NASCAR and was an avid Alabama Fan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Cato, Jr. 

  Survivors are his wife, Carol Cato of Locust Grove; children, Shannon Cato (Jessica) of McDonough and Stephanie Cato of Covington; granddaughter, Ava Woodruff of Covington; siblings, Linda Cato Donahue (Kenneth) of Locust Grove and Deborah Cato of Riverdale; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Claude Hambrick

  Claude "Dick" Hambrick, age 94, of Stockbridge, GA died October 10, 2013.  He was born in Atlanta to the late Claude Mack and Minnie Herndon Hambrick. Dick was a member of Salem Baptist Church and Laura Clark Sunday School Class in McDonough. He was a Mason for more than 60 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Claude William  Hambrick.

  Dick is survived by his wife, Kathryn Hambrick, Stockbridge; son: Walter Dickson (Lynn) Hambrick, Gainesville, GA; step-daughters: Linda (William) Hayes, McDonough; Diane (Hugh) Vaughan, Fayetteville; 4 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; and 8 step-great-great-grandchildren.

  Funeral Services were held  October 14 at Salem Baptist Church, McDonough with Rev. Richard C. Statham and Rev. Dan McKay officiating. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Inc., Atlanta. Kenneth J. Swanson

  Kenneth J. Swanson age 55 of Jackson passed away October 12, 2013. He was a loving husband, father and best Poppy to his grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and former owner of Swanson's Gulf and Wrecker Service. Ken was a proud Mason and Shriner. He protected and served the city of Locust Grove for 21 years and as Assistant Chief for 12. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Swanson and his daughter, Brittany Sparks.

  He is survived by his wife, Debbie Swanson, of Jackson; son, Chris Swanson, of McDonough; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jamie Daino of McDonough; daughter, Brittany Swanson of Locust Grove; son, Brandon Sparks of Louisville, KY; father, Jack Swanson of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Christian Hughes, Brooklyn Swanson, Jameson Daino, Landen Sparks, Brody Pearson and Brynn Sparks; sister, Janet Swanson of Blaine, MN; brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Lynn Swanson of Winter Park, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Shari and Allen York of Locust Grove.

   A Memorial Service was held October 16 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Brother Ralph Easterwood officiating.
