Dora Meadows Jenkins

  Dora Meadows Jenkins, age 72, of Stockbridge, died August 27 after a three-year battle with cancer. Dora was raised in Augusta, Georgia and attended Richmond Academy. She proudly served as the Deputy Clerk for the Supreme Court of the State of Georgia for 22 years until she retired in March of 2001. Dora was an active member of Community Bible Church and the Henry County Loyal Order of Moose Lodge. She was an avid gardener, a wonderful dancer, an excellent cook, very well traveled and had impeccable style. She loved the holidays, as they gave her a chance to decorate and spend precious moments with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she greatly cherished. Friendship was both strength and a gift in her life. The vast number of close friends she had is a testament to her sparkling and compassionate personality. Her insurmountable beauty, kindness and grace were an inspiration to all of those who were lucky enough to know her.

  She leaves to cherish her memories, a husband, Charles Jenkins; three children, Cheryl Seagraves, Chip Anderson and Susan Harrison; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

  A memorial service was held August 31 in the chapel at Community Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dora's name to the American Cancer Society. SouthCare Cremation and Funeral Society.


Phillip Bryant

  Phillip W. Bryant, 38 of Locust Grove died August 31, 2013. Phillip was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Bryant.

  He is survived by his father, Phillip D. Bryant of Griffin, sister, Kellie Martin of Bainbridge, friends, Kimberly Stanley of Locust Grove and Pam Phillips of Palmetto.

  Services were held September 7 at SouthCare. Interment St. Paul’s Methodist Churchyard in Whitesburg. SouthCare Cremation and Funeral Society.


Michael Thomas Whitehead, Sr.

  Michael Thomas Whitehead, Sr., age 60, of Stockbridge, GA died September 1, 2013. He was born in Douglasville, GA to Lee and the late Mary Moore Whitehead.

  Mike is survived by his wife: Susie Whitehead; father: Lee Whitehead; daughter: Michelle Parrott; son: Tommy Whitehead; sisters: Tracey Abell, Cheryl Lawson; grandchildren: Hannah Nelms, Austin Parrott, Taylor Parrott and Faith Parrott.

Jesse Gene Irvin

  Jesse Gene Irvin, age 28, of McDonough, GA died Sept-ember 3, 2013. He was born in Stockbridge, GA to Randall Young and Patsy Knight Irvin. Jesse enjoyed playing with his children, wood working, cycling, reading, and traveling. As a member of the Delta Plumbing family, he considered himself “The Educated Plumber.”

  Jesse is survived by his wife: Laura Lee Irvin, McDonough; parents: Randall and Patsy Irvin, Stockbridge; daughter: Zoe Irvin, Jonesboro; stepson: Patrick Jason Van Haun, McDonough; brothers: Jason (Nell Brimmer) Irvin, Atlanta; Jacob “Pork Chop” Irvin, McDonough; sisters: Jodie (Brian) Mesler, McDonough; Jenny (Mike Michalski) Irvin, Lake City; Jayla (Mark McDaniel) Irvin, Stockbridge; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and a niece.

Reuben Walter Jenkins

  Mr. Reuben Walter Jenkins, age 73 of McDonough, Georgia passed away September 4, 2013. He was born in Stockbridge, Georgia to Ruth Irene Brown Jenkins and the late Rueben Woodrow Jenkins. Reuben retired after 40 years as a machinist and was a member of Southside Christian Fellowship. He was an avid quail hunter and enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and his bird dog. He was preceded in death by a son, Reuben Walter Jenkins, Jr. 

  Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Emily English Jenkins of McDonough; children, Timmy (Amy) Jenkins of McDonough, Rebecca (Garfield) Chambers of Madison; grandchildren, Leah, Lauren, Trapper, Tanner, Jessie, Garfield, Jr. (Brooklyn), Elijah, Merle (Andrea), Natalie and John; great granddaughter, Penelope; mother, Irene Jenkins; sister, Orion Jenkins Holder of Stockbridge; brother, Ronnie (Val) Jenkins of McDonough.

  Services were held September 7 at Southside Christian Fellowship with Rev. Eddie Mason and Pastor Garfield Chambers officiating. Interment Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Mitzi Dea Morris

  Mitzi Dea Morris, age 44, of McDonough, GA died September 4, 2013. She was born in Atlanta to Larry and Virginia Anne Honea Jarrett. She and her son are members of Faith Baptist Church.

  Mitzi is survived by her parents, Larry and Virginia Jarrett, McDonough; son, James Scott Morris, Stockbridge; sister, Jodie A. (Ronald) Hough, Stockbridge; grandmother, Marcia Jarrett, Jackson; niece, Josie Hough, and nephew, Joseph Hough.

Michael Wilmot

  Mr. Michael “Papa” Wilmot, age 65 of McDonough, Georgia passed away September 5, 2013.  He was born in Elkhart, Indiana to the late Paul and Edna Wilgerta Biddlecome Wilmot.  Michael was a Special Effects Technician in the Motion Picture Industry for 30 years.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. 

  Survivors include his wife, Myra Wilmot; children, Laura (Steve) Jones, Richard Ussery, Stephen Roland all of Locust Grove, Stewart (Amanda) Ussery of McDonough; grandchildren, Devin Campbell, Sarah Haymons, Kaley Roland, Hanna Roland, Madison Roland, Joshua Jones and Joseph Jones; great grandchildren, Lathan, LaVanna, Alexis, Gracie, Tucker, Kynlee, Avery, Jackson and Travis; brother, Paul Wilmot of Miami, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.

Nash C. Israel, Jr.

  Nash C. Israel, Jr. (Duck), 75 of McDonough, Georgia died September 5, 2013. The North Carolina native was a member of Turners United Methodist Church in McDonough.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a retiree from the trucking industry.  He enjoyed wood working, and building and restoring old cars and trucks. His was preceded in death by his parents Nash C. Israel and Theatis Britt Israel. His wife, Janet Britt Floyd Israel and his sister, Barbara Israel Barnes, also preceded him in death.

  Survivors are daughters, Gail Floyd Sherman (Garry) of Asheville, NC, Tricia Hall (Steve) of Landis, NC, Susie Israel, of Pocoquson, VA, Kathy Israel-McLeod (Marty), of Jesup.  Sons, Lamar Floyd (Cathy), of Beauford, SC, and Mike Floyd (Nancy) of Denver, NC.; sisters, Linda Mercer of Rincon, Ga., Dianna (Gerald) Bejma of Holiday, Fla., Alice (Butch) Tucker of Hancock, ME; a brother, Joseph Israel of Goldsboro, NC;  ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

  Memorial services were held September 14 at Turners United Methodist Church. Rev. Leon Baxter and Rev. Kathy Israel-McLeod officiated.
