Retirement expert offers advice through new outlet

By Melissa Robinson
Contributing Editor

Can you claim alimony as a tax deduction after a divorce? Do you need a living trust? At what age can you be exempt from paying school tax in Henry County? Normally clients would pay financial advisors big bucks for the answer to these questions, however McDonough-based retirement professional Lewis Robinson covers these topics and more in his bi-monthly podcast. Lewis Robinson’s TIPShow, which stands for tax, investment and planning, brings free advice to the masses through the internet.

Robinson is the Managing Director and Senior Wealth Advisor for CapSouth Partners. He has been dishing out a plethora of advice on his web-based radio show since April of this year, where he has covered a variety of topics regarding estate planning, investing and retirement.

He said he was inspired to host a podcast by his son, who is an executive coach and has had success from a similar endeavor.

To date, Robinson has enjoyed positive response to his topics and advice and said he averages approximately 1,174 listeners per show. He said he tries to find a mix of topics with broad appeal as well as more specific retirement-focused issues, and invites guests from all over the country to join him on his show.

“One of our most popular shows to date has been one regarding the importance of updating beneficiary forms, in which I interviewed Denise Appleby with Appleby Retirement Consulting, Inc.,” said Robinson.

Robinson also sends out a newsletter that reaches 1,500 readers but has built up a following from his many years as a CPA, having founded a successful accounting firm, of which he sold his interest several years ago.

A tech savvy financial professional, Robinson marries the world of internet radio with sound financial help, offering advice from experts in several fields. He said he hopes to drive business to CapSouth Partners for those listeners who are interested in more in-depth advice or services.
