Square Dance Club

  The Lads ‘n’ Lassies Square Dance Club will offer 10 weeks of Basic and Mainstream lessons beginning August 3.  The cost is $5 per person per class.  Classes will be taught by the club’s accredited caller Bill Jones. The club will host free open house events and demonstration dances on Saturday, July 20 and Saturday, August 3 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at their new location in St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, 1865 GA. Free Carwash July 27

  Shiloh’s Men-To Men Ministry will sponsor a carwash on July 27 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Church’s education center located at 253 Macon Street in McDonough. There will be refreshments and donations will be appreciated.


Gold Wing Road Riders

  Chapter A of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association meets the third Saturday of every month at Southern Cooking, located at 406 Highway 155 South in McDonough. They have dinner at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 6:30. For more info contact Larry at 678-432-5910.


Toastmasters meeting

  If you have a fear of public speaking or would simply like to become a better speaker, Henry County Toastmasters can help. The group meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Henry Medical Center Education Building (in the Boardroom), 1133 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge. County Extension Canning Workshop

  There will be a workshop on canning tomato and green chile salsa on Thursday, July 18 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. It requires prepaid registration of $10 and the class size is limited, so register early. This workshop will cover preserving food safety and will be taught by University of Georgia Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, Susan Howington. Registration forms are available at their office, located at 97 Lake Dow Road in McDonough. Make checks payable to Henry County 4-H. Henry County High School Class Reunion

  The Henry County High Class of 1973 is planning their 40th reunion to be held Saturday, August 31, from 7-11 p.m. at Pilgreen’s at Lake Dow in McDonough. For more information contact Henley Varner at 678-549-5159 or


Crossroads Career Network

  Crossroads Career Network meets at Stockbridge First UMC, 4863 N. Henry Blvd., Monday, July 15, 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall (lower level at rear of building). Guest Speaker: Pam Beuerlein, Site Manager, Randstad Staffing in McDonough. Topic: Employment opportunities with staffing agencies. All are welcome to this free event. Childcare is provided. Free Genealogy Workshops

  Three Free Genealogy Workshop’s will be offered by Sara Jane Overstreet, of the Andrew McBride Chapter DAR and the Genealogical Society of Henry and Clayton Counties, Inc. Classes will be 10:30 a.m. until noon on July 20, September 21, and November 16. Laptop/I-Pad encouraged but not required. Pre-register for each workshop by emailing (limit 12 participants). Bethel UMC Ice Cream Social

  On July 27 from 3 - 5 p.m, Bethel UMC is having an afternoon of homemade ice cream and indoor and outdoor games for all ages and interests. Their Youth Praise Band will be performing. NAMI Meeting

 National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) meetings are held at Jodeco Road United Methodist Church every Thurs-day night from 7 - 8:30 p.m. sharp. There are two meetings; one for consumers and one for families. Coffee and water are served. The church is located at 1500 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge.
