County Extension Canning Workshop

  There will be a workshop on canning tomato and green chile salsa on Thursday, July 18 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. It requires prepaid registration of $10 and the class size is limited, so register early. This workshop will cover preserving food safety and will taught by University of Georgia Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, Susan Howington. Registration forms are available at their office, located at 97 Lake Dow Road in McDonough. Make checks payable to Henry County 4-H. Hampton Events

  On June 29 the Hampton Masonic Lodge #70 will have a country breakfast and blood drive from 7 until 11 a.m. The lodge is located at 34 McDonough Street. Donations are accepted. Also on June 29 they will have McBrayer Movietime at Hampton City Park.  Ernest Rides Again will begin at dark. Before the movie at 6:30 p.m. auditions for Hampton’s Got Talent will begin. All those who live and work in Hampton are welcomed to perform. On July 1 the Varsity Food Truck will be at Moye’s Pharmacy on East Main from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.   They have their Market in McBrayer Park each Friday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. through September at the Market in McBrayer Park, located at 10 Central Avenue. It features fresh produce, crafts, baked goods, etc. There will be a July 4th Parade in Hampton starting at 10 a.m. Line the streets then gather at McBrayer Park for food, fun, and games until 2 p.m.

 

 Heritage Writers Group

 The Heritage Writers Group has new meeting times. They now meet the first and third Saturdays of each month from 2-4 p.m. All writers are invited to visit. Bring two pages double-spaced of something you have written to read. They have a lot of fun, and get a lot done. Meetings are held at Dawg Eared Books, located at 41 Keys Ferry Street in McDonough.

 

Henry County High School Class Reunion

  The Henry County High Class of 1973 is planning their 40th reunion to be held Saturday, August 31, from 7-11 p.m. at Pilgreen’s at Lake Dow in McDonough. For more information contact Henley Varner at 678-549-5159 or hvarner15@aol.com.

 

Toastmasters meeting

 If you have a fear of public speaking or would simply like to become a better speaker, Henry County Toastmasters can help. The group meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Henry Medical Center Education Building (in the Boardroom), 1133 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge.
