Dana Curtis Smith

  Mrs. Dana Curtis Smith, age 40 of Conyers, Georgia passed away May 23, 2013.  Dana was born in East Point, Georgia to Bobby and Delores Noles Curtis.  She was a graduate of Stockbridge High School, Class of 1991 and attended Clayton State University.  Dana was a sales representative for several companies.  She enjoyed cooking and had a big heart for her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her daddy, Bobby Curtis. 

  Survivors include her husband, Robbie Smith of Conyers; step children, Austin, Candace and Andrew; mother Delores Curtis of Locust Grove; sister, Crystal (Dennis) Brown of Locust Grove; nieces, Madisyn and Kyndal; nephew, Adam; God parents, Lou and Roy Dunn of Lake City; several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

  Funeral services were held May 31 from the Griffin First Assembly of God Church.  Interment Westwood Gardens in Griffin. Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough, 770-914-8833,


Hughlon Duffey

  Hughlon Duffey, age 82, of Stockbridge , GA died Monday, May 27, 2013.  He was born in McDonough, GA to the late Samuel Edgar and Lilly M. Mayo Duffey.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Edgar Duffey and sister, Dorothy Haynes.

  Hughlon is survived by his daughter: June Sette; step-sons: Roger Burdette, Wayne Burdette; sister: Ellen Austin; grandchildren: Amy Ramsey, Jacob Sette, Amber Sette, Joshua Burdette, Kayla Burdette, Eric Burdette, Morgan Burdette; great-grandchildren: Alexys, Ashton, Kiley, Bubba, Charity, Connor, Alivia, Valerie; several nieces and nephews.

  Memorial Services were held June 1 at Griffin Church of God of Prophecy in Griffin. Those who wish may sign the on-line guest registry at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.


Lee Riner, Jr.

  Lee Riner, Jr., age 72, of McDonough, GA, passed away May 30, 2013. He was born in Vidalia to the late Elmer Lee and Gladys Sharp Riner, Sr. He was the owner of Riner Appliances since opening in 1980. Lee was an avid Georgia Tech fan.

  He is survived by his wife: Becky Grizzle-Riner, McDonough; sons: Parrish (Priscilla) Riner, McDonough,; Chris (Jamie) Riner, Williamson; Matt (Ashley) Riner, Williamson; step-children: Mallory (Sgt. David) Grizzle-Adamson, Fort Polk, LA; Matthew (Abby) Grizzle, McDonough; grandchildren: Kristin (Brian), Brittany (Teddy), Faith, Charlotte (Clint), Garrett, Ellie Jane, Ali, Eddie (Amanda), Hannah, Riley, Ethan, Eli, Bentley, Ila, Gavin, Journey; great-grandchildren: Silas, Elli, Carleigh Ann, Bradley, Chase and Lilly.

Gregory Pope

  Gregory Pope, Th.D.,Ed.D., age 65, of Locust Grove, GA passed away June 2, 2013.  He was born in Cedartown, GA the son of the late Daniel Frederick and Virginia Lee Lane Pope.  Loving pastor and teacher at Christian Growth Center in Locust Grove for 37 years.  Greg served with the Henry County Sheriff’s department for 20 plus years and worked with Clayton County Law Enforcement for 15 years. 

  He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Vever Pope of Locust Grove; and his dear children, Dana Pope Adkins (Kelly) and Stephen Pope (Donna) of Locust Grove; five precious grandchildren, Aaron, Emily, Jacob, Julia, and Ryan (Kimmie); two great grandchildren, Tristin and Ashlynn; two loving sisters, Toya Pope Adkins of Locust Grove and Katie “Tina” Pace (Donny) of Flovilla; along with many loving nieces and nephews. 

  Funeral services for Pastor Pope were held June 5 in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Dr. Roger Aikens and Sheriff Keith McBrayer officiating. Interment Haisten /Eastlawn Memorial Park. Haisten Funeral Home, McDonough, 770-914-8833,
