KidShine Day Camp

  Generation Church will host KidShine Performing Arts Day Camp this summer. Kids will have the opportunity to participate in dance, puppets, instruments, scenery painting, drama and more. KidShine will take place Monday - Friday, July 22 - 26, with a final performance on Friday night. The day camp is open to campers entering grades 3 - 8 in Fall 2013 (completed 2nd - 7th grades).  Benefit Yard Sale

  Providence Hospice is having a yard sale to benefit The Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer Associations. The yard sale will be held Saturday, June 8, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Providence Hospice is located at 100 Corporate Center Drive in Stockbridge.


4-H Summer Camp

 4-H summer camp for Henry County 5th grade students is filling up quickly. A week of fun and fantastic memories await at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, June 10 - 14. AARP 55 Alive Mature Driving Class

  AARP instructor John Milani is teaching a course in defensive driving this June at the Heritage Bank community room in McDonough. Milani’s “55 Alive Mature Driving Class” can help participants receive discounts on their auto insurance. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the class. Registration costs $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. You must be at least 25 years old to register. Henry County High School Class Reunion

  The Henry County High Class of 1973 is planning their 40th reunion to be held Saturday, August 31, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Pilgreen’s at Lake Dow in McDonough. For more information contact Henley Varner at 678-549-5159 or


Health Fair & Spring Fling

  New Hope Christian Ministries is hosting a free community health fair and children’s spring fling on Saturday, June 8. There will be vision screenings from the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, diabetes and blood pressure screenings from Stanford Brown, blood pressure and cardiovascular screenings from Piedmont Henry Hospital, and HIV screenings from the Dekalb County Board of Health.  Informational sessions will also be available, with topics including life and cancer insurance and short-term disability insurance, and chiropractic medicine. Cotton candy and snow cones are available for the children, along with a bounce house. Crossroads Career Network

  Crossroads Career Network meets at Stockbridge First UMC, 4863 N. Henry Blvd., Monday, June 17, 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall (lower level at rear of building).   The program will focus on presenting a winning image and sharpening your interviewing skills. Gold Wing Road Riders

  Chapter A of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association meets the third Saturday of every month at Southern Cooking, located at 406 Highway 155 South in McDonough. They have dinner at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 6:30. For more info contact Larry at 678-432-5910.


Lunch and Learn June 11

  Dr. Alfredo Martinez, UGA plant pathologist, will be conducting a lunch and learn program on June 11 at noon in room A of the Extension Office.  The subject will be lawn diseases and their control.  Please make plans to attend this very informative program.
