Anna Galayda Smith

  Anna Galayda Smith, 88, of Stockbridge, Georgia died April 19, 2013. She was born September 2, 1924 in Pittsburgh, PA. to John Galayda and Mary Gramata Galayda. Anna’s sister Tina died one day before her. Anna married Henry Jackson “Jack” Smith, Jr. on February 4, 1950. He preceded her in death December 6, 2006. Anna had three brothers, George Galayda, Steve Galayda, John Galayda and two sisters Mary Galayda and Tina Galayda Kohl all of whom preceded her in death.

  She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah Ann Smith of Molena, Monika Lynne Smith of Morrow, and Barbara Kay Cannady of Stockbridge; grandsons Nicholas “Nick” Alexander Cannady of Luthersville, Christopher Jackson “Jack” Cannady of Stockbridge and Jonathan Wayne Cannady of Locust Grove, granddaughter-in-law Brittney Nicole Strickland Cannady, great grandson Zander Wayne Cannady as well as nieces, Kim Kohl and Gayle Kohl. Anna graduated from Allegheny High School and The Alexandria Hospital School of Nursing where she received her certification as a registered nurse. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and a warm and caring friend to many people she met throughout her life. Anna will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind.

  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 1 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 2957 Mt. Carmel Road in Hampton. SouthCare Cremation and Funeral Society.

 

Gale E. Barber

  Gale E. Barber, age 75, of McDonough, GA died May 2, 2013. He was born in Memphis, TN to the late John Brooks and Juanita Barber. He was preceded in death by Marie C. Barber.

  Gale is survived by his wife: Allie Barber, McDonough; children: Janet (Devin) Duley, McDonough; Jerry (Michelle) Barber, Locust Grove; stepson Kurt (Anna) Killingsworth, Gainesville, FL; siblings: John Terry Barber, Memphis, TN; Nancy Wilkison, Springfield, IL; grandchildren: Hannah, Marisa, Shannon, Isaac, Bekah, Kasha, Noah, Elijah, and Zaria.

  Funeral Services were held at Glen Haven Baptist Church on May 6 with Rev. Stan Berrong and Rev. Ralph Easterwood officiating. Interment Fairview Memorial Gardens. Daisy Clavell

  Daisy Clavell, age 85 of Hampton passed away May 3, 2013. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Pedro Clavell. Daisy enjoyed her family, reading, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and crocheting. Her witty sense of humor will be missed.

  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Hector and Ziada Torres of Puerto Rico; daughter, Marlene Torres of Hampton; grandchildren, Alicia VanNorman of Tacoma, WA and Nicole McNeill of Tacoma, WA.

William Victor Highsmith

  Mr. William Victor “Bill” Highsmith, age 74 of McDon-ough, Georgia passed away May 6, 2013. He was born in Nahunta, Georgia to the late William Ivory and Ruby Keene Highsmith. Bill served his country in the United States Marine Corps and operated National Pest Control for 40 years. Bill enjoyed fishing, making people laugh, and sitting on his front porch swing. He was very committed to his valued customers throughout the years. 

  Survivors include his children, Teresa (Terry) Brooker of Callahan, FL, Sheila (Brick) Tripp of Ahoskie, NC, Jerry Highsmith of Knoxville, TN, Victoria Highsmith-Giuffre (Ken) of Zebulon, NC; grandchildren, Jason and Jamie Brooker, Savanna and Bricklyn Tripp; brother, Thomas (Joyce) Highsmith of White Oak; sister, Iris Barkoskie of Jacksonville Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Tommy, Wayne, Belinda, Tammy and Kelley.

  Funeral services were held May 11 from the Chapel of Frye Funeral Home of Nahunta. Interment Smyrna Cemetery. Lucille Hanes Clack

  Lucille Hanes Clack, age 88, of McDonough, GA died May 7, 2013. She was born in Atlanta to the late Albert Manard and Gladys Davis Hanes. She was preceded in death by her husband, James William Clack.

  Lucille is survived by her children: Pennie (Howard) Mines, Monroe; Roy (Melissa) Clack, McDonough; sisters: Betty Marie Durham, Loganville; Thelma Frances Mowell, Merritt Island, FL; grandchildren: David William Clack, Laura  Michelle Sawyer, John Michael Mines, Chandler Paul Clack, Haley McLean; great-grandchildren: Nathan Scott  Clack, Harlee William Clack, Andrew David Clack, and several nieces and nephews.

Charles Walter Dobbins

  Charles Walter Dobbins, age 66, of Stockbridge, GA died May 8, 2013. He was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Curtis Hiram and Ida Mae King Dobbins. Walter was an Air Force veteran, and retired after 42 years with the American National Can Company. He loved to spend as much time as he could salt water fishing and time with his family. Walter was preceded in death by his sister:  Peggy Coleman; brothers-in-law:  Carl Merck and Maurice Dozier.

  He is survived by his wife: MaryLen Dobbins, Stockbridge; sons: Chad Dobbins and Trista McCleary, McDonough; Chase (Kerry) Dobbins, McDonough; Brian (Kimberly) Dobbins, Canton; Brad Dobbins, Stock-bridge; grandchildren:  Grayson, Chason, Cameron; sisters:  Betty Merck, Stockbridge; Martha Dozier, Stockbridge; Jane (Jim) Sirmans, Cumming; brother: Curtis Sonny (Carol) Dobbins, Stockbridge; brother-in-law: Bill Coleman, Fairburn.

Nell O. Robertson

  Nell O. Robertson, age 96, died May 8, 2013 in Stockbridge, GA.    Nell has lived in the Atlanta area since 1934. Mrs. Robertson is preceded in death by her husband, M.C. Robertson; son, Alan Robertson; brothers, Joseph Oldknow and Lewis Oldknow.

  She is survived by her sister:  Ann K. Harper, Stockbridge; brothers:  Walter R. Kingsbury, Port Richey, FL; Michael B. Kingsbury, Jonesboro; special caregiver and nurse:  Gwen Smith; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marion Geraldine May

  Mrs. Marion Geraldine “Jeri” May, age 72, of McDonough, GA passed away May 10, 2013.  Jeri was born in Fulton County the daughter of the late Marion Frank and Lucille Morris Ramsey. Jeri was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, shopping, and giving of her time and talents to others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lamar May; and a sister, Myra Bolson. 

  Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Shelley May of Newnan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Shirley Ramsey of Fayetteville and Doug and Ginger Jarrett of Fayetteville; brother-in-law, Frank Bolson of Conyers; several nieces and nephews.
