Penny Lynn Marston

  Penny Lynn Marston, 45, of Riverdale, GA. died Friday, April 19, 2013. She was born in Columbus, GA,  to Mava Hardy Marston and the late Frankie Wayne Marston. Penny will be remembered as a kind quiet spirit, a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

  Penny is survived by her daughter, Candice Marston (Jimmy Sorrow); mother, Mava Marston (Greg Curry); brothers, Barry (Amanda) Marston, and Chris (Ellen) Marston; granddaughters, Kylie Nichole Sorrow and Ava Louise Sorrow, nieces Macie, Braylee, Claire, Lily and Nora.

William Thomas Marks

  Mr. William Thomas Marks, 62, of Locust Grove, GA, passed away April 23, 2013. Mr. Marks was born in Jacksonville, FL the son of the late William Robert and Mildred Sieg Marks. Mr. Marks was retired from Volkswagon/Audi Inc. of America. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, auto racing and sports.

  He is survived by his sister, Kathy Zebouni of Ponte Verda Beach, FL; nieces, Laura Garrard and Sara Zebouni of PonteVerda Beach, FL, and Amy Byrd of Lake City, FL.

Charles Lee Bruce

  Mr. Charles Lee Bruce, 39, of McDonough, GA passed away April 24, 2013. Charles was born in Atlanta. He was employed by Luxottica in McDonough. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, computer games, paintball, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Henry County Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl E. Bruce.

  Survivors are his wife, Alison Bruce of McDonough; children, Kristen and Matthew Bruce of McDonough; mother and stepfather, Clara and David Clayton of McDonough; brother, David Clayton of Hampton; sister, Tonya Bruce of TN; several nieces and nephews.

Martin B. Johnson

  Martin B. Johnson, 44 of Stockbridge, GA, passed away April 24, 2013. Martin was a Master Electrician with the IBEW Local #613 Union.

  He is survived by his wife, Heather Johnson of Stockbridge; father, Martin Johnson of Stockbridge; mother, Charlotte Terry of High Falls and sister, Belinda Benson of High Falls.

Jimmy Hastings Glass

  Jimmy Hastings Glass, 79, of McDonough, GA, died April 25, 2013. Mr. Glass was born August 29, 1933 in Henry County to the late Rubye Ford and Thomas Hastings Glass. He served as Sheriff of Henry County and on the Henry County Board of Education. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of VFW and Moose Lodge. Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, James Paschal Glass, Tucker and sister, Rubye Kathleen Glass Barnes, Locust Grove.

  Jimmy is survived by his wife: Martha Hall Glass, McDonough; step-son, Don (Rhonda) Hall, McDonough; their children: Korry Hall, Atlanta; Kelly Hall (Steve) Karius, and a great-granddaughter, Mallory Karius, Apec, NC; nieces and nephews: Peggy (Roman) Gau, McDonough; their children: Robert and Karen, Elliot and Olivia Stewart, Memphis, TN; Ryan and Jenn, Neal Stewart, McDonough; Robin and Mario, and Nico Depaoli, Sugarhill; Pamela Cates, McDonough, her son: Chase Cates, McDonough; Paula and Bob Engeman, Jr, McDonough; their son, Robert Engeman, III, McDonough; J. Paschal Barnes, Jacksonville, FL, his children: Shawn and Shirley, Rhiannon Barnes; Kyla Merson, McDonough; William P.(Sara) Barnes, Jacksonville, FL; Johnny (Laura) Glass, Lawrenceville; Ashley Glass, Charleston, SC; and sister-in-law: Alene Glass, Tucker.

Virginia Colleen McElroy Scott

  Virginia Colleen McElroy Scott, 83 of McDonough, GA, died April 20, 2013, at Laurel Park Nursing Home. She was born to the late Walter Grady and Mamie Angeline McElroy of Atlanta on December 12, 1929. Virginia worked at Rich’s in Atlanta and modeled in the Tea Room. She also worked at Georgia Tech, RKO and the City of Atlanta Board of Education. She went to work for MARTA in 1972 and retired in 1995 from bus maintenance as the personal administration assistant to the director. After retiring, she and her husband traveled around the country in their RV. Virginia loved to help out in her church, help her neighbors and community. She painted portraits, she enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bingo, going to Harrods and flying to Vegas to play slot machines. Virginia loved to go on cruises and vacations with her daughters and family. She really loved traveling and having a good time. She will be greatly missed, and we love her so very much. Virginia touched so many lives. She is preceded in death by her husband James Donald Scott of 52 years.

  She is survived by daughters, Trina Scott (Larry) Doolittle, Cheryl Scott (Nick) Romano, 10 grandchildren: Jason (Stephanie), Kim (Charlie), Adam, Morgan, Kyle, Shannon, Nicholas and Charity. six great grandchildren: Jaxon, Lane, Kaya, Addie, Maddox, Brelyn, and one on the way. She is preceded in death by four grandchildren: Matthew, Brent, Tiffany and Ashley, and one great grandchild, Michael. She has 5 nieces and 15 nephews from Florida to Virginia

  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at Southside Christian Fellowship, 750 Mount Carmel Road, McDonough. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Dewayne Harley Sweatman

  Dewayne “Sweaty” Harley Sweatman, age 33, of Locust Grove, GA died April 26, 2013.  He was born in Macon to Eddie Sweatman and Brenda Thompson. Dewayne was an active member of Peoples Baptist Church and Academy, McDonough. 

  Dewayne is survived by his spouse, Steffen Hornsby-Sweatman, Locust Grove; mom and dad, Brenda and Charles Thompson, Bonaire; father, Eddie Wayne Sweatman, Columbia, SC; children, Alexis Smith, Brayden Sweatman, and Ava  Sweatman, Locust Grove; siblings, Rebecca (Dre) Wright, New York, NY, Art Sweatman, Bonaire, Alan Thompson, Bonaire, Donna Sweatman, Columbia , SC and Debbie Sweatman, Columbia, SC; his nana, Shirley Conn, McDonough; niece, Akayla Clark-Wright and nephew, Ashton Wright, New York, NY.

  Funeral services were held May 1 at Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Dr. David McCoy officiating. Interment  Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon.
