4-H Summer Camp

 4-H summer camp for Henry County 5th grade students is filling up quickly.  A week of fun and fantastic memories awaits at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, June 10 - 14. Mr. & Mrs. Special Henry County Pageant

  Applications are being accepted for the 11th Annual Mr. & Miss Special Henry County Pageant. Applications are due by May 4. This is a pageant for special needs teens and adults. This year they are adding a children's division for ages 12 and under. The pageant will be held on July 27 at Salem Baptist Church. AARP 55 Alive Mature Driving Class

  AARP instructor John Milani is teaching a course in defensive driving this June at the Heritage Bank community room in McDonough. Milani’s “55 Alive Mature Driving Class” can help participants receive discounts on their auto insurance. A certificate will be awarded upon completion of the class. Registration costs $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. You must be at least 25 years old to register. Hampton Events

  Hampton will have their Annual Car Show at Russel's Automotive on May 11 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Come see the cars and enjoy free hotdogs and sodas.  Russel’s is located at 88 Woolsey Road. For more info contact Candy Franklin at 770-946-4306.


Blood Drive

  St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church will host a blood drive on May 5 from 9:30-2:30pm. This is a wonderful way to give back to the community and help others in need.  The church is located at 1865 Hwy. 20 East in McDonough. For further information call 770-957-7517 or visit


Benefit Yard Sale

  Providence Hospice is having a yard sale to benefit The Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer Associations. It will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Providence Hospice is located at 100 Corporate Center Drive in Stockbridge.


Gold Wing Road Riders Meeting

  Chapter A of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association meets the third Saturday of Every Month at Southern Cooking, located at 406 Highway 155 South in McDonough. They have dinner at 5:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. For more information contact Larry Clemmer at 770-210-8652.


NAMI Meeting

 National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) meetings are held at Jodeco Road United Methodist Church every Thursday night from 7 - 8:30 p.m. sharp. There are two meetings; one for consumers and one for families. Coffee and water are served. The church is located at 1500 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge. Hearts of Henry

  Hearts of Henry meets the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Henry Medical Center Education Foundation building. It is an organization offering support and hope for heart patients, their friends, their families and caregivers. Contact Ann Hulett 678-575-7746.


Toastmasters Meeting

  Afraid of public speaking?  If so, let Henry County Toastmasters help. They can assist you in becoming a stronger, more confident speaker. They meet on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Piedmont Henry Medical Center (Education Building) in classroom F.  The address is 1133 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge.
