Sarah Loretta Pace Brandt

  Mrs. Sarah Loretta Pace Brandt, age 84, of Jackson, GA passed away April 15, 2013. Mrs. Brandt was born in Harlan, KY, the daughter of the late Jesse and Ruby Nolan Pace. Mrs. Brandt enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, living on the lake, and watching her Hummingbirds. She was preceded in death by sisters Viola Clem and Hedie Ventrice, and a brother, Jesse Pace.

  Survivors are her husband, Robert G. Brandt of Jackson; children, Robert H. and Tammy Brandt of Jackson, and Traci Brandt DeLong of Jackson; grandchildren, Joseph and Lauren DeLong, Robby Brandt (Brandy Sorbet), Nick and Jessica DeLong and Marci Brandt; great grandchildren, Kayleigh DeLong and Carter DeLong; sisters, Ruth Tuka and Ina Hambright; brother, Hampton Noe; and several nieces and nephews.

June M. Cooper

  June M. Cooper, age 72, of McDonough, GA died April 15, 2013. She was born in Knoxville, TN to the late Ralph and Dorothy Mae Foster Thomas. June was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

  She is survived by her son, Rusty (Donna) Cooper, McDonough; daughter, Melanie Beason, Auburn; sister, Judy (Hal) Watson, Seymore, TN; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held April 18 at Salem Baptist Church, McDonough with Rev. Richard C. Statham officiating. Interment Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Rudean Boggs Yancey

  Mrs. Rudean Boggs Yancey, age 81, of McDonough, GA passed away April 15, 2013. Mrs. Yancey was born in Gwinnett County, the daughter of the late J. R. and Minnie Lee Ethridge Boggs. Mrs. Yancey worked for Southern Bell for 31-plus years. She was a member of the Bell South Pioneers. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, fishing, NASCAR and the Georgia Bulldogs. Mrs. Yancey was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Yancey; brother, Hubert Boggs and a sister, Pat Wingo. 

  Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Teressa and Tony Owen of Jackson; granddaughter, Jessica Lea Owen of Jackson; nephew, Jimmy and August Wingo and their daughter, Danielle Wingo of Lake Lanier; nephew, Mike Boggs; sister-in-law, Kate Needham of Loganville; other special nieces and nephews, Joey and Charlotte Needham of Loganville and Rhonda and Wayne Wilson of Loganville.

Glenda Alice Smith

  Glenda Alice Smith, age 70, of McDonough, GA died April 16, 2013. She was born in Atlanta to the late J.B. and Mary Virginia Boyd. 

  Glenda is survived by her children, Gordon David Jackson, Jr., McDonough; Tracey Michelle (Michael) Messick, Jonesboro, Wendell Wayne (Rhonda) Smith, Jr., Fresno, CA, Daniel Eugene Smith, McDonough; grandchildren: Joseph Kyle Strickland, Melissa Nichole Messick, Ryan Smith, Tim Smith, Josh Smith, brothers: Thomas L. (Meatrice) Boyd and James Kenneth Boyd.

Charles Long

  Charles "C.K" Long, age 57, of Covington, GA died Saturday, April 20, 2013. He was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Charles Alfred Long and Phillis Allen Story.

  Mr. Long is survived by his wife, Karen Hurst, mother and step-father, Phillis (Al) Story; daughter, Samantha Richard; grandson, Haden Richard and sisters, Tammy (Gaston) Gonzalez and Angie (Kenneth) Clouse.

Wilson Ray Goss

  Mr. Wilson Ray Goss, age 79 of McDonough, GA passed away April 20, 2013. He was born in Oak Grove, LA to the late Wiley Ray and Jessie Helen Wilson Goss. Wilson served his country in the Naval Reserves while in high school then signed up for the United States Army as an MP in Germany. He retired after 24 years with General Motors as a skilled tradesman and ten years with Clayton County as a building inspector. He was an active member of Southern Crescent Baptist Church, especially in the music ministry, playing clarinet and the tenor saxophone and as a bass singer. In his early years he was an exceptional bowler and member of the Masonic Lodge. Wilson was an outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed his time playing pool at the senior center with his friends.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Gilbert Goss.

  Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 56 years, Peggy Goss; children, Billy (Cindi) Goss of McDonough, Lana (Cary) Hamby of Stockbridge, Lisa (Lamar) Ussery of McDonough; grandchildren, Christopher (Meredith) Wang, Bryan Goss, Kevin (Andrea) Goss, Michael (Ashley) Wang, Steven Goss, Austin Ussery and Taylor Ussery; great grandchildren, Emma, Chance and Hallie; several nieces and nephews.

  A Celebration of Life Service was held April 23 at Southern Crescent Baptist Church. Pastor Joe Durham officiated. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Southern Crescent Baptist Church Music Ministry, 334 Lake Dow Road, McDonough, GA 30252 in memory of Wilson. John Thomas

  Mr. John Thomas, age 78, of McDonough passed away April 20, 2013 at Piedmont Henry Hospital. He was born in Nashville, TN to the late John and Morene Thomas. He resided in the Atlanta area for 23 years prior to moving to McDonough in 1993. John worked for over 40 years in the medical sales business. After retirement he worked for Kroger and Publix. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and worshipped with the McDonough Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a son, Eric Thomas, and a brother, Lionel Thomas.

  Survivors include his wife of 57 years, JoAnn; son, Mark; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

  Memorial services were held April 23 from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Jeff Wilder and Joe Glenn officiating. Private committal services were held at Floral Hills Cemetery in Tucker. Traci Robinson

  Traci Robinson, 42, of McDonough GA, died April 20, 2013. She leaves behind a multitude of friends and admirers and a close-knit family to celebrate her life and share her goodness. Parents Wes and Linda, step-parents “Pamps” (Jerry) and Judy, brothers Drake, Cailin and Nathan, Traci's children Maggie and Jack and their dad Dennis, Traci's youngest, Ashton, and his dad Shane, step-siblings Luke and Jennie, honorary mom and dad Kay and Jack, and Dennis' wonderful partner Melinda.

  A private family farewell will be held at the home of dear friends Ronnie and Linda. A donation in Traci Robinson's name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is the most meaningful way to honor Traci's life. SouthCare Cremation and Funeral Society.
