Mary Carolyn Baker Balog
Mary Carolyn Baker Balog, 71, of Hampton, Georgia passed away on March 9, 2013 in Atlanta. Carolyn was born in Harriman, Tennessee, to Charles Granville and Roxana Foreman Baker on February 24, 1942. She went to high school at Harriman High School, where her mother taught Latin, French and Spanish and graduated in 1960. She went on to earn an associates degree from Virginia Intermont College in 1962 and received her bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s in library science in 1964 and 1967 respectively from the University of Tennessee. She worked as a research librarian for the Knoxville, Tennessee, Athens, Tennessee and Tampa, Florida libraries. In 1970, Carolyn married Robert Andrew Balog, and upon his graduation from medical school, they moved to Hampton, Georgia. Carolyn and Bob started a family practice in Hampton, which they operated for 11 years until Bob’s death in 1995. Carolyn was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society Daughters of the Union, National Society Daughters of the American Colonists, National Society Dames of the Court of Honor, National Society United States Daughters of 1812 and National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Ransdell Balog Najjar (Samuel) of Atlanta and Rachel Anne Balog Donnelly (Zackery) of Decatur, her three grandchildren, Colin Andrew, Finnegan Bishop and Roane Elizabeth, brother Joseph Granville Baker of Rochester, NY sister-in-law, Elizabeth Balog Ozbun (Steve) and nephew Andrew Ozbun of Murfreesboro, TN.
A memorial service was held at Haisten Funeral Home on March 13. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may either be made to the Roane County Heritage Commission, PO Box 738, Kingston, TN 37763 or to the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, 4170 City Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131.

James Hiram King
James Hiram "Jimmy" King, age 68 of McDonough Georgia passed away on March 10, 2013. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Nathan James and Eunice Inez Benton King. Jimmy, also know by many as “Lucky,” enjoyed Nascar, time with his family, was an avid rock and roll enthusiast, and loved his coffee and donuts every morning. He was preceded in death by a son, James Jason King, a daughter, Melissa Gail King, and a sister, Elizabeth Ellen Autry.
Survivors include his children, Julie Elizabeth King, Jennifer Marie Messer (husband Josh Messer), Christopher Jake King; granddaughters, Chloe N'Gaelle Marie King, and Ansley Marie Messer; mother of his children Paulette Gail King; and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held March 14 from the chapel of Haisten Funeral home. Pastor Jody Shaw officiated. Interment Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. Doris Drummond Ellis
Mrs. Doris Drummond Ellis, age 88, of McDonough, GA formerly of Forest Park, passed away March 12, 2013. Mrs. Ellis was born in Dacula, the daughter of the late William Sanford and Minnie Pearl Freeman Drummond. She was a member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Forest Park and a previous member of the Forest Park Eastern Star. Mrs. Ellis enjoyed spending time with family and friends, writing poetry, jewelry and dressing up and being active in her church.
Survivors are her children, Linda Moats (Douglas) of McDonough, Gayla Patterson of Forest Park, John “Johnny”
Ellis (Andrea’) of McDonough, Monte Ellis (Debbie) of Jack-son; stepchildren, Susan White (Tom) of McDonough, David Johnson (Tammy) of Ohio, Cathy Johnson of Ohio; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, brother, Thomas B. Drummond of Snellville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pamela Ann McGuick Jackson
Mrs. Pamela Ann McGuick Jackson, age 62, of McDonough, Georgia passed away March 12, 2013. Pam was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated from Henry County High School Class of 1969. Pam worked for Baxter for 27 plus years. Pam enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling and antiques. She was preceded in death by her father, Price McGuick; brother, Michael McGuick and a granddaughter, Taylor Gramling.
Survivors are her husband, David Jackson of McDonough; children, Tonya Sheats of Douglasville, Andrea Moats of Jackson, Darlene Necessary of Peachtree City, and Andy Johnson of Grayson; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; mother, Eva McGuick of McDonough and a sister, Robin Slacum of McDonough.

Harvey Truitt Pitts, Jr.
Harvey Truitt Pitts, Jr., 68, of McDonough died March 14, 2013 at Vitas Hospice in Stockbridge.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Ruby Lee Pitts, sister, Faye Lee of Marietta, children Ashley Banks, Lynsey Walimaa, Toni Jones, Bonnie Gassett, Dale Ivey, sons-in-law Steve Jones and Andy Banks, 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, 1 niece and 1 nephew.

G T Lester
Mr. G T Lester, age 86, of McDonough, Georgia passed away March 15, 2013. Mr. Lester was born in Cairo, the son of the late Andy Lee and Myrtle Duneven Lester. Mr. Lester was a member of McDonough Baptist Tabernacle. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, farming and gardening. He worked for A W Walker in McDonough for 20 plus years, Harding Construction and Henry County Board of Education. He was preceded in death by brothers, Billy and Frank Lester; sisters, Cora Lester, Mary Hunt-singer and Agnes Hunt.
Survivors are his wife; Mary Ruth Lester of McDonough; children, Danny and Anthony Lester of McDonough; grandchildren, Curtis Lester and Melissa Ann Lester; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Huey Lester of McDonough and several nieces and nephews.
