Bethlehem Elementary School Spring Fling Bring in spring at Bethlehem Elementary School’s Spring Fling 2013. The school’s PTO will host a night of family fun on Friday, March 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the school. Activities will include a flashlight egg hunt, cake walk, music and dancing, photo opportunities with the school’s mascot, Bob the Bobcat, and much more. Soil Preparation Class Community Gardens of Henry County will hold a class on Soil Preparation for Vegetable Gardening on Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m. The class will be taught by Russell Camp, Southern Garden Coach and will take place at Shade House, located at 86 Work Camp Road in McDonough. The cost is $25 for non-members and $10 for members. The class will cover site selection, have a discussion of soil pH and temperatures, soil sampling for analysis, drainage, soil amendments, organic and synthetic fertilizers.
Kiwanis Club Talent Showcase The 15th annual Kiwanis Club of Henry County Talent Showcase is set for Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m. at the Henry County Performing Arts center in McDonough. This year’s prize will be $1,250 in scholarship money. The talent showcase competition is open to all Henry County students in ninth through twelfth grade and who are enrolled in public, private or home schools. Freedom Fund Banquet The Henry County Branch of the NAACP is hosting its 9th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Friday, March 15 at 7 p.m. at the Merle Manders Conference Center located at 111 Davis Road in Stockbridge. This annual event celebrates community leaders and top local students. The theme this year is “Moving Forward Through The Struggle.” Tickets are $50 per person. The attire for the affair is formal.
