Collie League, Jr.
Mr. Collie League, Jr. age 79 of McDonough, Georgia passed away December 1, 2012. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Collie League, Sr. and Annie Hellen Chambers League. He served his country in the United States Army and retired from Ft. Gillem as a brick mason. Collie attended Living Word on the Move Church and was a member of the Bricklayers Union Local 8. He enjoyed fishing and watching sports. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Helms.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise League of McDonough; daughter, Iris Cronan of Covington; step-children, Nancy Gail Hammonds of Newborn, Glenda Hartley of McDonough, Eddie Hartley of Jackson, Rhonda Harris of McDonough; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Robert League of Stockbridge.

Earlene Wilson McCartha
Mrs. Earlene Wilson McCartha, age 85, of McDonough, GA passed away December 3, 2012. Mrs. McCartha was born in Clarksville, the daughter of the late John Earl and Christine Sutton Wilson. Mrs. McCartha was a member of Timberridge Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sewing, gardening and canning. She was preceded in death by brothers, M. L. Wilson and Randy Wilson and a sister, Jewell Trusler.
Survivors are her husband of 57 plus years, Charles “Mac” McCartha of McDonough; children, Pat Potter (Bill) of Grayson and Charles McCartha (Marlene) of Fayetteville; grandchildren, David and Diana Potter, Susan and Howard Ethridge, Charles P. McCartha and Keagean Mc-Cartha; great grandchildren, Sierra and Che Ethridge, Austin and Chandler Potter, Raylin Said and Juliana Potter; brother, Raymond Wilson (Betty) of Monroe; several nieces and nephews.

Grace Marian Burdett
Grace Marian Burdett, age 79, of Stockbridge, GA died December 4, 2012. She was born in LaGrange to the late Henry Sercey and Fannie Mae Priest Stanford. Grace was a member of Liberty Baptist Tabernacle Church in Stockbridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Solon Burdett and her daughter, Alice Lavanda Shaw.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Yvonne (Nathan) Henderson, and Rose Marie (Ed) Henry, all of Stockbridge; step-daughters, Joyce Todd, Locust Grove and Lucille Wallace, Dallas; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Minnie Belle Rodgers Westmoreland
Minnie Belle Rodgers Westmoreland, a life long resident of Henry County, passed away on December 4, 2012. She was born November 18, 1921 near McDonough, Georgia, the youngest of eight children of Emerson Olin and Florrie Lee Ingram Rodgers. She graduated from McDonough High School in 1938. On January 20, 1940 she married Winford Young “Frog” Westmoreland and joined him on his family farm near Hampton, Georgia. Soon after the outbreak of World War II and several years afterward she worked at Southern States Equipment Company in Hampton, Georgia in addition to being a homemaker and working on the family farm. In 1964 she began work in the Hampton Post Office, first as a rural route mail carrier and later in the post office until her retirement in 1986. She was an active member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church and truly enjoyed the fellowship of the congregation and her church school class. Following her retirement from the US Postal Service she enjoyed traveling and touring with her church friends and family. She was proud of having visited each of the fifty states as well as several foreign countries. Minnie was preceded in death by her husband; parents; five sisters, Mary Alice Stewart, Beatrice Lee Turner, Julia Francis Cowan, Nannie Ruth Rodgers, and Rebecca Rodgers; and two brothers, John Thomas Rodgers and her Infant Brother.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Lynwood K. and Patricia Palmore Westmoreland and R. Wayne and Janet Peele Westmoreland; two grandchildren, Ashley Tallman Westmoreland Johnson, and Robert Marc Westmoreland; and two great-granddaughters, Anna Tallman Johnson and Lillian Marina Westmoreland.
Funeral services were held December 7 at Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Hampton with Rev. Mike Henderson and Rev. Mike Patterson officiating. Interment church cemetery. Michael (Mike) Dalton, 41, of Stockbridge, GA passed away on December 5, 2012. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his children, Jacob Dalton and Brianna Dalton, father, Kenneth Dalton, mother, Faye Preston, sisters Tammy McAllister and Tracie Hardin, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Sandra Mobley Edwards
Mrs. Sandra Mobley Edwards, age 53, of McDonough, GA passed away December 5, 2012. Sandra was born in Atlanta. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shopping, spending time and playing with “Boomer” her dog, working in the yard, and charming everyone with her sharp wit and personality. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul B. Mobley.
Survivors are her husband, Jimmy Edwards of McDonough; children, Brandon Hilton of McDonough and Heather Frady of McDonough; grandchildren, Emily and Landon Hatch and Rylan Jones; mother, Margaret Mobley of McDonough; sister, Paula Shockley (Joe) of Locust Grove and two nieces.

Betty Ruth Smith Craig
Mrs. Betty Ruth Smith Craig, age 77, of McDonough, GA passed away December 6, 2012. Betty was born in Henry County the daughter of the late William Thomas and Mattie Jane Riley Smith. Betty was a member of Philadelphia United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, reading, cooking, sewing, and flower gardening. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ed Smith, Onree Smith, Gene Smith and a sister, Irene Phillips.
Survivors are her husband of 56 years, Gene Craig of McDonough; children, Carmen Craig Abernathy (Neal) of Marietta, Amy Craig Beasley (David) of Greenwood, SC, and Jon Craig of McDonough; grandchildren, Whitney and Ben Abernathy and Sammy Beasley; brother, Tommy Smith (Gloria) of Atlanta; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Regina Lois Dodgen Whitaker
Mrs. Regena Lois Dodgen Whitaker, age 90, of Hampton, GA passed away December 6, 2012. Mrs. Whitaker was born in Marietta the daughter of the late Ollie Grady and Edna Lillian Kent Dodgen. Mrs. Whitaker was known for her service in the community. She was an active member of Hampton United Methodist Church, the founder and director of Camp Fortson, active with 4-H Clubs, Henry County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, one of the founders of the Henry Players, Director of the Kitchen Kuties, active with the Henry County Farm Bureau, served on Past Board of Directors of Henry Medical Center, and recognized as citizen of the year of Henry County by the Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, her flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Herman Whitaker Sr., and brothers, Fay and Harold Dodgen.
Survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Whitaker (Leila) of Lexington, SC, Jerry and Margaret Whitaker of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Chip, Tara, Brandon and Jeremy; and 9 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sacola Dodgen Dupree of Hampton; several nieces and nephews.

Janice Keen Fortson
Janice Keen Fortson, age 75 of McDonough, GA, wife of Billy Joe Fortson, passed away on December 8, 2012 at Vitas Hospice. Jan was a retired civil service employee with thirty three years of dedicated service to our country. Jan enjoyed bird watching, gardening, doing crossword puzzles, and playing with her dog, Sydney.
In addition to her husband, survivors include four children; Marcia, Michael, Lisa, and Brian. Six grandchildren; Amy Carter, Emily Intelicato, Andrew O’Leary, McKenzie Fortson, Grant Fortson and Brandy Bennett. She also leaves behind 5 great grandchildren; Grace, Hudson and Faith Carter, Morgan and Addison Bennett. Jan also leaves behind a brother Kenneth Knight of Fayetteville, NC and a sister Jane Hungerford of Conowingo, MD.

Louise Jeanette Bissell
Louise Jeanette Bissell, age 86, of McDonough, GA died December 8, 2012. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 18, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bissell and her parents.
Ms. Bissell is survived by her daughter, Carol Tatum Brady (Bobby Sargent), McDonough; step-daughter, Laura Bissell, San Francisco, CA; granddaughters Alecia Zeigler Smith, of Carters-ville, Amanda (Chad) Flanigan, Locust Grove, and Kimberly Esse, Reno, NV; grandson, Billy Tatum, Pleasant Hill, CA; and many great-grandchildren.
