Piedmont Henry Hospital and
Moye’s Pharmacy encourage smokers to make November 15 - the
Great American Smokeout - the day they decide to quit smoking.
In honor of the American
Cancer Society’s 37th annual Great American Smokeout, Piedmont
Henry and Moye’s Pharmacy will have an information table set up
in the hospital’s South Tower lobby from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tips
on ways to give tobacco users the best chance to quit and stay
quit will be available as well as information on smoking
cessation programs offered by both Piedmont Henry and Moye’s
Pharmacy.
Today, tobacco use
remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and
premature death in the U.S., yet about 43.8 million Americans
still smoke cigarettes, according to the American Cancer
Society. That’s nearly 1 in every 5 adults.
Making the decision to
quit smoking is not an easy one, but smokers take an important
step towards a healthier life if they do so. Piedmont Henry
helps those interested in quitting by offering Fresh Start
smoking cessation courses, which are offered several times
throughout the year.
To further
promote healthy lifestyles in Henry County, Piedmont Henry will
become a tobacco and smoke-free campus on January 1, 2013. For
