Raiford Walker Coley Mayor Raiford Walker “R W” Coley of Hampton, GA passed away October 17, 2012. Mayor Coley was born in Mineral Springs, Arkansas the son of the late Raiford Robert and Mattie Lee Walker Coley. He served as Mayor of the City of Hampton for seven plus years and retired from the FAA as an air traffic controller with 32 years of service. Mayor Coley served his country in the US Air Force from 1954-1958. He was very active in his community serving as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, serving in the youth associations in sports with his sons, active with the high school booster clubs, Hampton Lions Club and Woodmen of the World. He was recognized by the parks and recreation department into the Henry County Hall of Fame in 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Hendryx Coley and a son, Joey Coley. Survivors are his children, Jeff Coley (Kathi) of McDonough and Tim Coley of McDonough; grandchildren, Maran Coley, Laura Jae McRae (Douglas), Brett Coley and Drew Coley; special friend, Lottie Greer of Hampton; sister, Kay Rose of Cupertino, CA and several nieces and nephews. James A. Blackstone Mr. James A. Blackstone, age 80, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away October 17, 2012. Jim was a salesman; of insurance, shoes, and stories…a storyteller at heart who could always elicit a smile. He was preceded in death by his brother and two sisters; Elizabeth Walker, Ed Blackstone Jr., and Caroline Sater. He is survived by his children Jan and Jules Fritz, Julie Kirby, Stephen and Amanda Black-stone, and Jared Blackstone; grandchildren, Lauren, Rachel, and Ryan Kirby, Nick and Elena Fritz; great-grandchildren Bray-den Stephens, Carson Towler, and Easton Motes. Ricky D. Godfrey, Sr. Ricky D. Godfrey, Sr., age 55, of Jonesboro, GA died October 19, 2012. He was born in Atlanta to the late Olin Lee and Kathleen Turner Godfrey. Ricky is survived by his wife, Lorraine Godfrey and son, Ricky Godfrey, Jr, both of Jonesboro; siblings, Johnny Godfrey, Austell, Butch Godfrey, Stockbridge; Gary Godfrey, Panama City, FL; several nieces, nephews, and his beloved pets, Smut and Goose. Glenn Athearn, Jr. Glenn Athearn Jr., age 60, died October 17, 2012, in Brinkley, AR. Glenn was born September 5, 1952 in Canton, Georgia to Glenn W. Athearn Sr., and Ellie Helena MacDonald Athearn. Glenn worked as a transporter most of his life time. Glenn is survived by his wife: Jeanie Athearn of McDonough, son: Glenn John Athearn of McDonough, two daughters: Erin Ellis of Hampton, and Megan McKeon of Alpharetta along with 3 grandchildren. Zytha Sue Fowler Zytha Sue Fowler, 69, of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away October 22, 2012. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was indeed a true inspiration and a hero to everyone she came in contact with. She changed lives and touched souls. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceeded in death by her son, Jody Fowler; father, Cecil Stephens; step-mother, Dorthy Stephens; mother, Mary Doss and step-father, Gale Doss. Survivors are her loving husband of 52 years, Paul Fowler, Jr; son, Raymond (Donna) Fowler; daughter, Angela (Bobby) Letzring; grandchildren, Camerron Fowler, Morgan Letzring, Rachel Fowler, Ryan Letzring, along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Lovadene Dunn Stoy Mrs. Lovadene Dunn Stoy, age 79 of McDonough, Georgia, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee passed away October 22, 2012. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Louis Thomas and Edna Irene Pritchett Dunn. Lovadene was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and enjoyed square dancing, watching the Braves and listening to Gospel music, especially the Gaither’s. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Gaskill. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Otto A. Stoy. Sr. of McDonough; children, Al (Wanda) Stoy, Jr. of McDonough; Kenneth (Anita) Stoy of Jonesboro, Craig (Angie) Stoy of Byron; sister, Jeanette Wolfe of Gillette, WY; grandchildren, Rachael (Todd) Brackin of McDonough, Otto Stoy, III of McDonough, Sheila Connell of Douglasville, Stephen (Shelby) Gaskill of Graniteville, SC, Joey Stoy, USMC of Parris Island, SC; four great grandchildren.
