Hey Henry, my family has been dealing
with pure heartache and tragedy this past week, when we lost our
wonderful Jason Holland, however the support and love that our great
little community of Ola has poured out to us has been beyond
believable and only heard of in fairytales. Our Ola schools,
churches, and businesses have really come together to embrace our
family, and for that we are forever thankful. On behalf of our
families, we thank you Ola. We are very blessed to live in such a
loving caring community. As we state: WE ARE OLA! That saying could
not be more true and not only said, but acted on as well. Thank you
again. God Bless you all.
Hey Henry, does anyone know what happened to the Kroger that was
supposed to be built on Racetrack Road? The signs are gone (Kroger
building site) as well as all the construction trailers and
equipment.
Hey Henry, bring hockey back to Georgia! R.I.P. Atlanta Thrashers
(1999-2011).
Hey Henry, the speed limit on Phillips Drive in McDonough went from
35 mph to 25 mph. No sign was ever posted indicating a speed
reduction. Just saying!
Hey Henry, senior citizens are you aware that the federal government
has used $716 billion taken from Medicare to fund the Affordable
Care Act? That’s money we paid into the system that will not be
available now. If you have Medicare Advantage, wave bye bye. It’s
going away. Do some research and remember it when you go to the
polls on November 6.
Hey Henry, to those complaining about fire trucks at Wal-Mart, maybe
they missed lunch because they were running a call. Maybe they
missed breakfast AND lunch, because they were running calls. Or
maybe they were there shopping for something for a project. If you
want to know, go ask them before you blast them. As for leaving the
truck running, it’s cheaper than a tow bill. If they return to their
truck and it doesn’t crank, what do they do then? Finally, as for
the person in a Fire Dept truck parking in a handicapped spot...
Just plain lazy.
Hey Henry, I was in McDonough library today and heard two ladies
talking about the libraries starting to let people use their cell
phones inside the library! If they make this stupid decision I will
have to go to Clayton county where it is quiet and more peaceful!
Tell me this is a joke!
Hey Henry, if the county can’t afford a red light at the
intersection of Hwy 138 and Hemphill Road, has anybody thought about
shaving the ditch and taking more of the curve out? It is very
dangerous, especially pulling out of Hemphill Road and turning left.
Think about it!
Hey Henry, maybe if so many kids were not crossing attendance lines
for school choice, etc., their parents could get to school on time.
The ones who are always late should be forced to go back to their
home school and ride the bus!
Hey Henry, when HCFD receives a call that there is an accident,
medical emergency or house fire, they don’t have time to retrieve
their personal auto. Just because these hardworking, underpaid men
and women need to eat shouldn’t be a problem. Get a life and let
these people continue protecting it. Thank you all for a “Job Well
Done.”
08.15.12
Hey Henry, today was the second time
during the past month I have driven up to the McDonough Bank of
America ATM and found the machine asking me if I want an additional
transaction because the person in front of me did not follow
directions and press done. Not everyone is honest and could wipe out
your accounts. Just a reminder, when you have completed your
transaction, please be sure to hit “done” and don’t leave the ATM
until the home screen returns.
Hey Henry, to all people who are boycotting Chick-Fil-A because of
Truett Cathy’s personal feelings about marriage... The penalty for
being homosexual in Saudi Arabia is death. Are you going to stop
buying gas also?
Hey Henry, if the County is in dire financial shape can someone
explain to me why a fireman would drive a big fire truck to lunch
and run errands at Wal-mart and leave the fire truck running and
wasting fuel?
Hey Henry, just want to say thank you to the lady with the baby who
found my purse in the Kroger grocery buggy Monday evening. Cannot
thank you enough for your honesty! Nice to know there are still
awesome people in McDonough. God Bless you.
Hey Henry, why is the Post Office here in McDonough allowed to look
like the city dump. There is trash strewn all around, the flowerbeds
are never weeded, the trees all need trimming as well as the hedges
and and the grass needs regular cutting. What an eyesore in this
city.
Hey Henry, kudos to the staff at the Locust DDS office! They do a
great job helping calm in the confusion and maintain an orderly
flow. The office is understaffed but does the best with what they
have. Not so much for the customers who obviously can't
read/comprehend clear instructions.
Hey Henry, congratulations to Henry County resident, Connor Price!
He left last Wednesday for the United States Navy. He's one of many
who protect our freedom everyday.
Hey Henry, just watched the commissioners meeting of 8/7/2012. They
awarded a contract for $70,320 for engineering services to design
Frog Road. I know for a fact, Henry County has at least 6 engineers
on staff, with 3 of them being registered. Why are we paying for
outside services, in this economy, when we have engineers working
for us? Are they incompetent, and not qualified to design a road?
Seems we are wasting a lot of money somewhere.
Hey Henry, and all people in Georgia: Please stop breeding animals,
as the shelters are full of homeless pets!
Hey Henry, the field of medicine to be in over the next 5-10 years
is chiropractic, because the number of kids that will begin to
experience curvature of the spine, due to keeping their necks always
bent down to text! Come on parents, this could be the next epidemic
of the 21st century! Great Job.
Hey Henry, to all the cyclists who insist on riding on Hwy. 20/81 at
rush hour. Can you please do this at some other time rather than
rush hour every evening? Traffic is bad enough without having to
dodge cyclists and someone is going to get hit.
Hey Henry, for the person complaining about their children being 10
minutes late, get up earlier, duh!
08.08.12
Hey Henry, I must have missed the
email when they changed yield signs to mean merge!
Hey Henry, I know these 5K walk/runs are for a good cause, but can’t
they do them around a high school track instead of shutting down
residential streets for 45 minutes with no warning? The first time
someone dies because an ambulance cannot drive through thousands of
people flooding the streets, someone in this county will show some
common sense and change this practice.
Hey Henry, what is with the Henry County Fire Department’s regular
sized truck parked in the handicapped spot at the Publix at Lake
Dow. This truck has no handicap tag or any visable sticker stating
they are disabled. This is the second time I have seen the same
truck parked there. If you are an able bodied working fireman don’t
you think those spots are for disabled people or the eldery who are
not able bodied? Anyway, isn’t that a $500 fine?
Hey Henry, you have to be kidding. When you call to put yourself on
the “do no call list,” you are signing yourself up to be on the call
list. You don’t think your info gets sold? Think again.
Hey Henry, so the muppet master is banning Chick-fil-A. I say
yipeeee. I am so sick of these people thinking that banning Chick-fil-A
will hurt them. I think his business speaks for itself. God has his
hands firmly on Truett Cathy’s business and I am glad to see a
company stand firmly on it’s Christian beliefs. We would all do well
to follow Mr. Cathy’s example. I think our country would be in much
better shape. I say Mr. Cathy for president.
Hey Henry, it’s my understanding from the organization officials of
the softball games that take place in Locust Grove that no coaches
should be chewing tobacco during any practice and/or softball games.
Our coaches should be setting a good example for our future
generation and chewing tobacco is NOT setting that good example.
Hey Henry, please ask the Street and Roads Department to remove the
“Deer Crossing” sign on Airline Road just east of Highway 155. Too
many deer are getting hit by cars there and hopefully the Department
can find a safer place for them to cross.
Hey Henry, to the wired up Henry County cop at the Chick-fil-A on
Saturday afternoon: (the confrontational one trying to exit in the
wrong lane, driving directly at the front of another car, and then
yelling at other drivers on the PA system) my 12 year old daughter
wanted to know why you were acting so badly. I didn’t have a good
explanation for her.
Hey Henry, a big big Thank You to Tracy and the ladies in the Locust
Grove City Hall for helping my daughter, Anna! I know how busy ya’ll
are and you really went above and beyond!
Hey Henry, if Missy Elizabeth apologizes for that stand on “T-Splost
we might vote to re-elect her again. Love you Liz but following the
"Good Ole Boys” about cost you big time! This old Warrior loves the
Henry County Times, and Moyes RX, y’all keep up the good work!
Hey Henry, the first day of school on East Lake Rd, particularly
East Lake Elementary, was a disaster. Parents, who want to walk your
kids into school, please park on the road so when you are pulling
out of your parking spaces you are not delaying the carpool lane. We
are trying to get our kids to school, too. My son was 10 minutes
late after sitting in line for 20 minutes and then it was another 15
minutes before I was able to escape the madness. A complete
nightmare!
08.01.12
Hey Henry, why are citizens who work
out at the J.P. Mosely Gym forced to watch only Fox News. We are
told that Fox News is the only channel on both televisions that we
are allowed to watch. This is neither fair nor balanced.
Hey Henry, I think the citizens of McDonough should pool their
resources and buy a chipper for the City. I have had limbs piled on
my property for over a month. Every time I call City Hall they tell
me the chipper is not working.
Hey Henry, to the incumbent who’s so proud of cutting the budget by
20 million dollars: we know. That’s why library hours have been
slashed, vacant positions are unfilled, services are lacking, and
county departments are understaffed. Are you sure that’s something
you want to brag about?
Hey Henry, to the person so interested in keeping up with the school
buses in the summer. Just to let you know, summer school is going on
for special needs students and bus training for new drivers. We are
not just out joyriding!
Hey Henry, to the people with cell phones, shut up and drive, before
you cause an accident.
Hey Henry, just take a moment and pause to think of the many
blessings that have been bestowed upon us. If you think good
thoughts, good things will happen.
Hey Henry, does anyone know what Take Gap, Give Gap means at the red
light at Highway 42 and Jonesboro Street at the Square in McDonough?
People, please be courteous. The next time it may be you coming from
the other direction.
Hey Henry, I have always been under the impression that when law
enforcement calls a wrecker to pick up the vehicles after a traffic
accident, the wrecker driver is required to clean up all broken
glass and parts, not push the parts off to the side and leave glass
in the street for all the cars to pick up in their tires. Henry
County needs to enforce this better.
Hey Henry, thanks to Mayor Lee Stuart for a doing a good job. You
are appreciated.
Hey Henry, in response to swimming in the South and Yellow Rivers?
The rivers are not clean like they used to be and a 2-year-old child
does not have the resistance to bacteria that an adult has. Have you
not followed the Amy Copeland story?
Hey Henry, how can I trust our government with billions of T-SPLOST
money when they can’t even get a little bridge over the Rock Quarry
railroad track built? How many other half-done, lengthy projects
would we be signing up for?
Hey Henry, If you are going south on Highway 155 and turning right
onto East Lake extension... you have to yield to the people making a
u turn. If you have a red light you have to stop on red and yield to
those who have a green light, even if you are making a u turn! Green
trumps red... every time!
Hey Henry, a shout-out to the South Side Charity Ride for
Alzheimer’s, Inglett & Stubbs Int’l, all bike riders, bars, everyone
who donated time and money and to Leadfoot for rocking out this past
weekend to benefit the Georgia Chapter for Alzheimer’s.on’t need all
the calls.
07.25.12
Hey Henry, to all the folks who keep
using Hosannah Road in Locust Grove as a dump site for your unwanted
pets, and you know who you are. Do you feel less guilty for calling
animal control or letting them fend for themselves? We all have
enough of our own animals, and you are forcing us to call animal
control. If you get a pet, you should keep the pet.
Hey Henry, to the person worried about the bus drivers, stop
complaining, because they are taxpayers too.
Hey Henry, it’s sad how so much mudslinging goes on during election
time. Some people’s only worry is to see how bad they can make an
opponent look. Then they go and act all “Christian like” on Sunday.
God is watching and you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Hey Henry, do you agree the new Georgia tags are ugly and a waste of
resources?
Hey Henry, Snapping Shoals EMC has a great board of directors. I
like low power rates, air conditioning, refrigeration and having no
blackouts. I’m going to the annual meeting on the 26th at the Horse
Park in Conyers to vote for our current directors: Gene Morris,
Anthony Norton and Walter Johnson.
Hey Henry, to the waste removal company that services New Covenant
Church on Jonesboro Road in McDonough. The residents of the
subdivision that borders the church property would appreciate if the
drivers would take more care as they drop/slam the dumpsters to the
pavement at 5:30 a.m. every Monday morning? It sounds like a series
of gunshots!
Hey Henry, my God, Henry County Road Department, get it together.
They are paving Cohen Road and Old Jackson and have no clue on how
to direct traffic. One day, they didn’t even have a pilot car to
guide you through and I almost hit someone head on. Either they need
to be trained more, or we need some people with common sense working
on the roads.
Hey Henry, take a minute and thank your public safety workers for
performing a job with less pay and more work. Also, an ambulance is
not a taxi.
Hey Henry, when property assessments dropped, we all said, “Just
watch: next the Commissioners will raise the millage rate, arguing
that with lower assessments, the net property tax won’t change. Then
the assessments will start going back up.” Guess what? The
commissioners are now considering a significant millage increase.
Just more evidence that our elected officials think we’re stupid.
Hey Henry, so the City Council censured Stockbridge Mayor Lee
Stuart. Seems the old guard doesn’t like changes.
Hey Henry, a summer math problem: Georgians spend $380 per year on
transportation. The new T-SPLOST will raise it to $745 per person. A
family of four will spend $2,980 per year or $29,800 over the 10
year tax. Is there anything you want or need? If so, vote no!
Hey Henry, shouldn’t all politicians who use automated phone calling
services, respect those who are on the “National Do Not Call”
register. It’s defeating the purpose of registering if I am still
going to receive even one of these annoying calls. I consider myself
an informed registered voter and I don’t need all the calls.
07.18.12
Hey Henry, be generous in traffic to
your mail carrier. We are in a tin box with a motor sitting on us
with no air conditioning. It is several degrees hotter inside our
mail truck than the day’s temperature and our little fan blows hot
air. Thanks!
Hey Henry, thank you to all the volunteers at McBrayer Park on the
4th of July. My children had a blast with the hula hoops, bean bag
toss, horse shoes, bubbles, DJ, face painting and the delicious
food!
Hey Henry, as election day fast approaches I encourage my fellow
citizens to contact the candidates and ask them the tough questions
and don’t rely on what is posted on some webpages and blogs. Make an
informed choice.
Hey Henry, in response to Henry County Code Enforcement not doing
their job, quit complaining in the paper and call the office and
file a complaint. They don’t need your name, number or anything else
but the address. Stop by the Magistrate Court on the first Thursday
of each month because the cases are tried in the courtroom and not
in the newspaper.
Hey Henry, school is out, so why did I see a Henry Country school
bus parked at Kroger? Then next day see one driving on Iris Lake?
Next time I’m writing down the number and reporting them.
Hey Henry, does anyone know what is being built next to the Publix
shopping center on Hwy 155 in Locust Grove? We lost so many
beautiful trees!
Hey Henry, get out and vote, people of Henry County. You have the
whole month of July to vote. Please show our elected officials we
have not forgotten the bad things they have done the last 4 years.
Hey Henry, thanks to Henry County Arts Camp. My daughters always
love the camp. It is one of the highlights of their summer!
Hey Henry, a big shout out to the Henry Players performance of The
Never Ending Story. There are so many kids that love to perform and
thankfully we have a great local theater group. Come out and support
them when you can!
Hey Henry, did you know that at the Department of Family and
Children Services their employees are all of a sudden required to
ask applicants for assistance to register to vote and even have them
fill out the voters card?
Hey Henry, Stockbridge used to have the best code enforcement
officer around and all of these 4 wheeled food, flower and furniture
vendors were not allowed. Thanks Teri, we all miss you.
Hey Henry, I looked at the latest Georgia PSC rate study and my
rates as a Snapping Shoals EMC member are $523.13 lower each year
than they would be with Georgia Power. Thank you Snapping Shoals
board and management. Let’s keep Gene Morris and the others on the
job; keeping our rates low. I’m going to Conyers on July 26 and
vote! Let’s carpool.
Hey Henry, I’m a citizen of McDonough and have been for quite some
time. I’m curious as to why would the City of McDonough Mayor and
Council hire an employee who’s only concern is obviously his
re-election in Fayette County? My biggest disappointment with the
City of McDonough is their hiring of employees that the County
terminates.
07.11.12
Hey Henry, it was so nice to stay
local and watch the fireworks local! The police officers and other
county workers were friendly and did an outstanding job with traffic
flow, the fireworks made for many ooohs and ahhhs! Great job Henry
County on a class act 4th of July!
Hey Henry, why is there no volunteer program for some of the local
government programs that have cut back on hours? Lots of retired
people out there would probably like to help. Maybe in the library
or schools. Sure seems like a good untapped resource to me.
Hey Henry, is there some legal reason why there is no liquor store
in McDonough?
Hey Henry, my City of Stockbridge billing statement says cash is not
accepted for payments. My United States of America currency says
“this note is legal tender for all debts public and private.” Maybe
the city attorney should review this policy of the City of
Stockbridge.
Hey Henry, I agree that the Board of Education needs to look into
the lunch room managers. There is a lot going on under the table and
out the back door that nothing is ever done about. It is a
free-for-all at the taxpayer’s expense.
Hey Henry, the Yellow River flows through Rockdale County and Newton
County and I have lived here all my life. It’s not yellow because
most of the time it is green or orange.
Hey Henry, a suggestion to those of you who have pictures engraved
on grave markers and mausoleums: Submit pictures of relatives when
they were in their prime, not in old age. It helps you think of your
loved ones the way you expect to see them next time.
Hey Henry, to the person who wrote about Henry County Code
Enforcement, I agree, they are not doing a good job. I have a house
on my street that has junk cars in the front yard, overgrown shrubs
and lawn and it is a haven for rats and snakes. This brings down
everyone’s property value on the street. The problem is that if you
file a complaint the person can find out who you are and that could
be harmful to the law abiding citizen who takes care of their
property.
Hey Henry, I would like to say “Thank You,” to the two gentlemen who
stopped and helped me up when I fell in the Belk parking lot on July
4.
Hey Henry, this is to the person who is complaining about their kids
having nothing to do in Henry County. There is a movie theater,
several golf courses, an arcade center, a bowling alley, tennis
courts, book stores, parks, plenty of places to ride bikes, Lake
Spivey, Jackson Lake - what more do you want? Sounds as if your kids
are spoiled rotten.
Hey Henry, to the family of the child life-flighted from my field
Sunday night. My church family and I have been praying for you and
your child. Hope all is well! I am so thankful to have a place they
could land to help you get to the hospital quickly.
Hey Henry, I had a great time at the fourth of July event and
listening to DKC, the new boy band from Henry County at Nash Farms.
Really enjoyed the harmonies of Corbin and Bobby. Go boys go!
07.04.12
Hey Henry, when will we make
developers build houses far enough apart that one house fire does
not take out an entire neighborhood? You might as well be in an
apartment complex.
Hey Henry, to whomever was so affected that they had to complain
about the quality of kid’s meal toys: please, don’t buy a box of
Cracker Jacks. You will be risking a major coronary.
Hey Henry, I moved from Dekalb County, then from Clayton County and
now all I can do is wait for property values to return.
Hey Henry, if it says incumbent we WILL vote for the other.
Hey Henry, I take offense that while visiting a loved one’s grave at
a local cemetery, I couldn’t even have a quiet moment there due to
the walkers and joggers. Please respect a cemetery and don’t use it
as a walking/jogging trail.
Hey Henry, to the person whose skin was “crawling” at the thought of
people, including a 2-year-old, swimming in the Yellow River. It’s
not really yellow and YOU obviously are not from the south!
Hey Henry, I had a taste for steak and I did not want to go to the
big chain steak restaurants on Jonesboro Road. Drove over to Outlaws
and they are closed. What happened? I thought the food there was
good!
Hey Henry, lets all give a big “Thank You” to Animal Control
personnel for all their hard work.
Henry County needs to put a ban on sign spinners. They are just
plain tacky! They are just as offensive as the lawn signs you see
everywhere. They definitely do not make me want to stop in and
support the businesses they are promoting and they distract drivers.
Hey Henry, there are at least six crosswalks in the two-block area
of “downtown” Hampton. If you are too lazy to walk a few feet to get
to one, don’t expect me to stop for you. P.S. standing on the double
yellow line yelling and making rude gestures is not likely to change
my mind. Maybe the police need to start writing some jaywalking
tickets before somebody gets hurt.
Hey Henry, concerning Henry becoming the next Clayton County. Why
would anyone expect the same people who screwed up Clayton County,
and have now moved to Henry to do anything differently here. It’s
these same people making the same bad decisions over again.
Hey Henry, what is going on with the code enforcement? Some people
have to get a septic system and do everything legal. Some people get
away with it, even when it has been reported.
Hey Henry, we need some more things for kids to do in Henry County
during the summer. They have no community pool, no mini-golf, and no
local amusement parks.
Hey Henry, why does Henry County have so many Tents-Grills-BBQ
Stands just set up on any street corner selling right out of the
back of trucks, cars, tents, etc. Who inspects them and do they pay
permit fees?
Hey Henry, what do you do if you find yourself homeless in Henry
County? I can’t find much help.
06.27.12
Hey Henry, to all the people that
complain about everything, do you want some cheese with your whine?
Grow up you hard-to-please people!
Hey Henry, just around the corner is “A Night With The Stars” for
the Mr. and Mrs. Special Henry County Pageant! Please come out and
support them on July 14 at 3 p.m. at McDonough Christian Church off
of Jonesboro Rd. It will be a night to remember!
Hey Henry, why are HCBOE lunch room managers allowed to carry cases
and cases of food home? My tax dollars paid for that food and it is
for the kids!
Hey Henry, why do all the people running for office stay hidden
until election time? There is so much wasteful spending going on and
that is selfish. Now the taxpayers and the employees are the ones
who are suffering. The HCBOC is now looking for the taxpayers to put
them back into office once again ... these people do not go into the
communities to meet the people who pay their salaries. Have a
meeting in the community some time.
Hey Henry, you would think that all these fast food restaurants
would give better toys in their happy meals and kids’ meals such as
McDonald's and Burger King, but I guess it's like everything else,
the more money they can save, the more money they can make.
Hey Henry, to the person with the “crawling skin.” I do not know the
people but am annoyed by your comment. Was the child jumping off the
bridge or just swimming with a parent? What is the problem with
swimming in anything other than a pool. Get over yourself and take
care of your own.
Hey Henry, when you see the guy at the "cash 4 gold" store on 81.
Give him some gatorade or some water. He looks like he needs it
Hey Henry, to the person who found the need to dump seven full bags
of trash in Kalves Creek along beautiful Parker Road. We cleaned up
your mess and have your name and address. Oh, and the Sheriff's
department does too.
Hey Henry, in response to the person commenting about “churches” in
business settings, sometimes it's better to move to a standing
structure than to build. The “Church” is the people not the building
and if it saves money in the long run, I say do it. There are way
too many empty houses/buildings anyway, so I say use them any way
you can.
Hey Henry, my husband and I just returned from a 3-day "field trip"
to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry with some residents from Benton
House. Kudos, shoutout, and love to Miss Renae who put the trip
together! She is an awesome lady, so good with the residents ...
it's not a job; she loves them! They are lucky to have such loving
care.
Hey Henry, I wish I had seen the McDonough Home Depot item 5 weeks
ago. I would have taken my business there instead of the next exit
south where it's customer no service!
Hey Henry, in regards to the churches and “we buy gold” stores
cropping up all over ... the person said “we will not become another
Clayton County.” I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we are
well on the way to becoming just that. The county leaders need to do
something, or they will be facing the crime and decay which is the
reason many Clayton County residents live here now.
06.20.12
Hey Henry, a couple things... in
regards to the comment about the BMW, the county doesn’t buy BMWs.
An employee might have and it is no one’s business. As for the TIMES
printing the tag number, shame on you. I read comments from
misinformed people week after week and to give out information like
that is not cool. People should focus on the positive things in
their own lives so they would have less animosity for strangers.
Hey Henry, to the person complaining about the BOE and the 3
furlough days for next year. There are NO furlough days planned for
next year. Not sure where you got your info.
Hey Henry, Henry County needs to implement a new law that requires
everyone in this county who has not taken a Drivers Education Class
to do so. The drivers here don’t have a clue how to drive properly
and they obviously don’t care if they kill someone.
Hey Henry, a co-worker announced that after work she would join her
friends to jump off a bridge somewhere in Conyers into the South
River or Yellow River. I also found out the next day that a
2-year-old child went swimming with them in the river. That just
makes my skin crawl!
Hey Henry, I guess I spoke too soon when I said it was nice to see
activity on the Rock Quarry/Railroad Bridge construction because it
has halted again. Sigh!
Hey Henry, I wish the “We Buy Gold” place on Hwy 81 E & Old Jackson
could do without that sagging pants guy holding the sign.
Hey Henry, I sure am glad the recent “road construction” movie
production is gone again on Highway 20 in Hampton. Now I don’t have
to figure out which detour I must take to get home for seven days in
a row.
Hey Henry, I work for a local office, I make a good salary, but I
have a hard time everyday regarding the work ethics of other people,
especially when upper management doesn’t seem to give a crap, it
rolls downhill. I have to take pride in what I do because it defines
you as a person. Customer service is a thing of the past I’m afraid,
but so many people act like you owe them and are rude and hateful.
Have we given so much that no one appreciates a kind person any
more. This just makes me sad. I truly hope this is printed and I
hope my boss reads it and takes a hard look around.
Hey Henry, hope the DOT fixes the hole they left in front of Smead
on Hwy. 42. It rocked my car when I hit it yesterday. That thing is
dangerous if you are not expecting it.
Hey Henry, in two years Stockbridge has lost two city managers, two
city clerks, two city treasurers, city attorneys, judge, prosecutor,
shop foreman, shop mechanic, code enforcer, park police, street
cleaner, our trash guy, treatment plant supervisor and more - all
with award-winning decades of experience. Rudy, please forgive us
and come back!
Hey Henry, we would have less accidents if everyone didn’t need to
use a cell phone in the car. Also, use your blinker, that’s why they
are there, and last, but not least, please be nice to everyone, it
will warm your heart.
Hey Henry, what is it with this Lisa Murray? First she is tellling
Paula Deen how to live and what to eat. Now we hear about her
epidermis (and yes I know it is skin). Not sure who it is that she
is calling Common Folk, or if this is a slur. At 29 she has a lot to
learn.
06.13.12
Hey Henry, I would love to see the
old McDonough train depot restored to its original grandeur. I hate
seeing it just sitting there wasting away when so many other Georgia
towns have turned theirs into beautiful landmarks.
Hey Henry, I would like to know why the gasoline prices in Locust
Grove are always 5 to 10 cents higher per gallon than in McDonough.
Thank you.
Hey Henry, you idiots on these crotch rockets think you are
invincible, especially on the highways. You are riding on a death
wish, so I believe I would slow it down.
Hey Henry, if you’re going to get a pet, make sure you’re prepared
to care for it the rest of its life. It broke my heart to take the
small cat someone abandoned with her two kittens, probably not a
couple of weeks old, to animal control. Her last look at me seemed
to say, “I deserve better than this.” We would have kept them but
our lease only allows us the two cats we already have.
Hey Henry, to the person complaining about the red lights in
Stockbridge and McDonough, the ones on any of the state highways in
the county fall on the state DOT. All others fall on the county.
Hey Henry, does anyone know when they will start building the new
Kroger on Highway 81 and Travis Road. I am looking forward to it.
Hey Henry, with furlough days and reduced library hours how can the
county afford a BMW 325 I? It’s dark gray with tag # GV96370. It was
observed speeding on Hwy. 42.
Hey Henry, why don’t they raise the millage rate a bit so all the
firefighters (and county employees) won’t get furloughed or laid
off. We have families too you know!
Hey Henry, I want the thank the four wonderful people at Mount
Carmel Elementary who have kept our school looking as good as it did
the day we opened!
Hey Henry, The Henry County Humane Society is an all volunteer,
no-kill animal shelter. They depend entirely on donations,
fundraisers and adoption fees to fund the shelter. They do not
receive tax dollars, government funding or funding from any national
humane organization. Please consider making a donation today. All
donations are tax deductable. Visit www.henryhumane.com. Ask them
for their specific needs on their wish list.
Hey Henry, a huge thank you to Courtney McGuire, owner of Truly
Yours, for her embroidery talent in support of the Kensley Grace
Swim-A-Thon event!
Hey Henry, the BOE has ZERO furlough days planned for the 2012-2013
school year....check your facts!
Hey Henry, now that we’ve got the men in Hampton pulling up their
pants like they should let’s start working with the womenfolk. Let’s
not be prejudiced.
Hey Henry, everyone in Henry County should vote NO on the T-SPLOST.
There’s no way Henry County can get any of the money. It will all go
to Cobb, Fulton, Gwinnett and Dekalb counties.
Hey Henry, happy birthday to a great friend and an awesome boss!
06.06.12
Hey Henry, pay attention to the
location of campaign signs. If a candidate’s signs are all in vacant
lots and in front of foreclosed houses, that tells you that person
can’t get any breathing, thinking voters to vouch for them.
Hey Henry, to future “business entrepreneurs” looking to establish
in the Henry County area. We do not need any more secular “churches”
based out of shopping centers, “we buy gold” businesses, or shopping
centers. We will not become another Clayton County!
Hey Henry, I’ve noticed that many people who walk at the parks in
Henry County just drop off their kids at the playgrounds and leave
them unsupervised. This is very dangerous.
Hey Henry, I want to thank the Henry County Commissioners and the
Department of Transportation. I’ve been (living) here since 1962 and
they have done everything I’ve ever called about.
Hey Henry, I’m not affiliated with the Salvation Army but almost
every morning it irritates me to see that people have dropped their
trash off in front of the donation center on Racetrack Road. Come on
people. Why should they have to take care of your trash every
morning when they come to work? If you have something worth
donating, bring it during business hours. If it’s trash, take it to
the dump!
Hey Henry, a huge thank you to our McDonough Home Depot team. They
went over and beyond to resolve a bad situation. They far exceeded
my expectations in customer service. Thank you!
Hey Henry, seriously, can the Board of Commissioners please fire the
individuals responsible for sequencing the traffic lights in
Stockbridge and McDonough? Enough is enough! I travel regularly to
different countries. And it seems that the worse traffic in the
world is right here in our own county. I think many will agree that
a great deal of the congestion is due to the traffic lights being
totally out of sequence. Can the county please hire someone who will
invest some time and thought into getting this right? Please!
Hey Henry, I was involved in a rear end collision on May 23 on
Hampton-Locust Grove Road making a left turn onto Planters Walk. I
just want to thank everyone who stopped or came out of their homes
to see if we were ok. It meant so much to feel the love and
compassion. Also we want to thank the person who took the pictures.
Hey Henry, I finally see some action on the bridge on Rock Quarry
Road over the railroad. Why has it taken so long? Hope you make the
12/21/12 deadline on the blinking sign!
Hey Henry, to the BOC......you have all messed up your chances of
reelection with your past choices and don’t have too many options
but you can still save jobs.
Hey Henry, when are they ever going to put a four way or at least
some of those rubber strips in the road at Airline and Turner
Church? I saw another accident again. There has to be at least a
wreck a month there if not every week.
Why is the BOE planning 3 additional furlough days for next school
year but they can find the money to reinstitute all bus routes and
go to a three tier bus schedule?
05.30.12
Hey Henry, regarding the State House
District 109 race, is there possibly a third choice?
Hey Henry, shout out to Mallards Landing Residents: You came, you
saw, you conquered! The Henry County Library System appreciates
everything your community has done to make several of our events
possible. The children will benefit from your contributions to our
Summer Reading Program for the Children's and Young Adult's
departments. For more info on these and other activities visit
www.henry.public.lib.ga.us
Hey Henry, to the person who took the Sherman's Trail Yardsale sign
from Hampton City Hall. You did not have permission, so you are a
thief! What a good role model you are!
Hey Henry, to the person complaining about the traffic between
Jodeco and Hudson Bridge Road. If you have lived here for 15 years
you would know there are 4 schools plus the Christian Academy and 4
day care centers on Jodeco Road alone and there are no lights to the
access roads. Complain to your commissioners if you want it fixed.
Hey Henry, what you make happen for others, God will make happen for
you!
Hey Henry, I want to say Thank You to a great group of people who
were so kind to me when I fell at Heritage Park while at the
Veterans Memorial Day program. These kind strangers helped me up and
one of their daughters got some Band-Aids for my elbow. I can't
thank them enough and only wish that I could do more. My husband and
I both enjoyed the program.
Hey Henry, oh no! Where is my Anthony's Pizza Clip-n-Save coupon?
Hey Henry, learn how to act at high school graduation ceremonies! I
couldn't believe the people talking during the commencement
addresses, hollering, blowing air horns, and smoking in the stadium.
Really?
Hey Henry, is the “Take gap, Give gap” in the McDonough Square
really that hard of a concept?
Hey Henry, I agree with the other post about the behind the scenes
people in the school system. I know of one maintenance custodian at
Ola High that goes above and beyond to make sure the school runs as
efficiently as possible.
Hey Henry, to the people living on Coan Drive complaining about
their road not being repaved, try living on one of Henry County’s
fine dirt roads and put up with that mess, along with the promise
from our commissioners that "we'll get to it in the next three
years" for twenty plus years!
Hey Henry, in regard to the Key’s Ferry fire station leaving the
flag at half mast, I asked someone at Hampton City Hall and they
told me it was in honor of the police and firefighters who have
given the ultimate sacrifice. The next time you see a cop or
firefighter, let them know you appreciate the job they do.
Hey Henry, the Memorial Day Program at Heritage Park was great -
with one exception. Why does the United States Coast Guard always
get overlooked? I don't believe the government has removed the Coast
Guard as a branch of service in the United States military yet. In
the future, please include us.
05.23.12
Hey Henry, kudos to the City of
McDonough’s clean-up crew, and anyone else responsible for the
post-Geranium Festival cleanup. By Sunday morning everything was
just like normal. Impressive!
Hey Henry, it is time to study for final exams. Just wondering, why
does my kid’s study guide have material on it that he has not ever
been taught?
Hey Henry, why does the Keys Ferry Fire Station perpetually fly the
U.S. flag at half-mast?
Hey Henry, so now Henry County says they’re going from repaving 30
miles to 10 miles a year. Coan Drive is horrible and I’m sure won’t
be repaved anytime soon. Looking forward to another year of
attempting to dodge potholes and front-end alignments. Get your
priorities straight, people!
Hey Henry, the 1st annual Geranuim Jam was a blast. Thanks to the
organizers for pulling together a well-done event!
Hey Henry, I always thought “Sherman’s March to the Sea” was rather
tacky and uncalled for.
Hey Henry, to the bald headed man holding up the cardboard sign on
Hwy 81. Get a bigger sign and write larger so that people can see
what it says.
Hey Henry, what’s up with the red light where Eagles Landing Parkway
merges onto 75N. I have called Henry County Road Services and had
suggested that the red light needs to be calibrated on several
occasions with no results. I have also contacted my district county
commissioner with no results as well!
Hey Henry, congratulations to Eagles Landing Christian Academy
Varsity Baseball Team who are in the Elite 8 State Playoffs Games.
They are also #1 in the Region 9A Championship.
Hey Henry, to the parents of the kids racing up and down River Road
and Snapping Shoals Road on dirt bikes...love your kids and buy them
a helmet. Teach them how to safely ride without dodging UPS trucks,
speeding cars, and their friends chasing them down in trucks.
Hey Henry, I always thought the Bermuda Triangle was off the coast
of southern Florida, but I believe it’s between Jodeco Road and
Hudson Bridge Road. I have lived in Henry County for the last 15
years and it amazes me how the highway gets backed up going
southbound every afternoon between 4 and 6 p.m. and also early
morning.
Hey Henry, those of you griping about buying the airport and Nash
Farms are unbelievably naive. In the long run those places and
others like them will only be of benefit to Henry County.
Hey Henry, to the man on Hwy 42 that yelled at me to pull over and
get out of my car, because gas was pouring out of the tank. You
probably saved the lives of me and my children. Thank you and I hope
that God blesses you!
Hey Henry: To the person who took the Sherman’s Trail Yardsale Sign
from Hampton City Hall - you did not have permission, so you are a
thief! What a good role model you are!
05.16.12
Hey Henry, the City of Stockbridge is
proposing spending my tax dollars on a trolley and an ice skating
rink! Are they insane?
Hey Henry, bad enough the county lowered my home's value again, but
took down my adult children's homes too... bet they're all 'upside
down' on their mortgages now. Way to go Henry County!
Hey Henry, I want to thank Mrs. Laura Davis, kindergarten teacher at
Ola Elementary, for the great year she gave my granddaughter,
Jordan. All educators should be as caring and dedicated as she is.
You rock Mrs. Davis!
Hey Henry, I love the little footnotes that someone writes for LOL
in La'Grove!
Hey Henry, if the HCBOC would sell that $17 million dollar airport,
and subtract that $13 million dollar debt from that $17 million
dollar sale, that would give the HCBOC a $4 million dollar surplus.
$4 million is $4 million, if you are broke!
Hey Henry, according to the Hampton Police calendar pictures there
are 21 officers and 2 civilian employees not 16. The Hampton July
4th festivities had been cancelled until the people found out and
raised Cain. Now, there is the truth.
Hey Henry, to the person who commented about the woman who needed
Medicaid for her adopted child....How dare you question the motives
of someone who has lovingly and willingly taken this child into
their home. Had this child not been adopted, they would more than
likely have spent their entire life in foster care, where the public
would be paying even more, but more importantly, this child would
never know the true love and security of a family. When you are
willing to step up and adopt a blessing such as this child, then and
only then do you have a right to comment! The only thing more
degrading than your ignorance is your lack of compassion. Sign me,
the adopted father of 6!
Hey Henry, if the property values in Henry County are down 15% (per
Mr. Stamey/District 3) why did my property in District 1 go down
40%, as well as all the properties in my sub-division? 40% is a long
way from 15%.
Hey Henry, when is the Henry County Board of Education going to
start recognizing everyone who works behind the scenes, to keep the
schools going, such as maintenance and custodians. How about giving
us a new car for maintenance man of the year or custodian of the
year.
Hey Henry, why should county employees continue to have furlough
days, no raise in several years and decreased health insurance
coverage all to fund the continued increase in commissioner spending
- airport operations for example.
Hey Henry, I wonder how much the county and state could save if we
cut off the air, cable and any other non essentials in our jails.
Maybe we could have the inmates do the farming work that nobody else
wants to do so they can pay the taxpayers back for their meals and
board. Also the libraries are taking a hit and having to close
earlier because they can’t pay staff. I'm sure there are at least a
few people who would show up to work if it meant getting their SNAP
cards replenished every month.
Hey Henry, are they ever going to pave the road that Dutch Town
schools are on?
05.09.12
Hey Henry, I want to say Thank You
and give notice to the nice man who walks every morning and picks up
trash on Jackson Lake Road. You always wave and smile, and seem to
take pride on our street. Wish more people could be like you.
Hey Henry, buying the bank is still a waste of money to me. Even
though we bought it at a good price I still don’t understand why a
new road is being considered. We do not need to spend any money at
all especially on more roads that are to be built that need
maintaining. We can’t even maintain the roads that we do have now. A
good buy is still not a good buy when you can’t afford what you
already own. Plain and simple. When does common sense need to be
considered?
Hey Henry, when I submit info about the laying off of firefighters
why does it never get posted? Guess the commissioners have the paper
in their back pocket.
Hey Henry, Hampton City Council, have any of you read, or even
looked at the book the woman from the Republican party talked you
into spending $400 of the City’s money on? Since it is politically
motivated, is that even legal?
Hey Henry, to the person posting about the Hampton 4th of July
situation. First of all, there will be a parade. Second, you really
should get your facts straight, there are not nearly 25-30 police
officers, try 16.
Hey Henry, let’s face it. We are going to lose policeman and firemen
along with closing their stations. We are going to lose more than
one library. Our Commissioners need to spend a day with our public
safety and libraries to see what a loss this will be. They have no
clue. And yes, we will be voting you out!
Hey Henry, is there any way we can spend some of that SPLOST money
to repave Coan Drive. I believe it has been patched for the last 20
years. You just can’t keep patching and patching, this is only going
to get worse than it already is!
Hey Henry, today while in a funeral prossession on Hwy. 155 oncoming
traffic was stopped, some out of respect and some because others had
stopped. What made my day was the gentleman who was standing outside
his truck facing the procession. This was a county employee and to
you sir, I say, Thank You!
Hey Henry, in response to the woman who wrote about Medicaid and her
adopted daughter, perhaps she should not have adopted her if she did
not have the income to pay for her special needs child. Why should
we, the taxpayers, shoulder your load.
Hey Henry, Hampton is participating in the “Sherman’s Trail Yard
Sale.” To take a tragic chapter in our nation’s history such as
Sherman’s march to the sea and celebrate it with something as tacky
as a yard sale is just the lowest of poor taste. Hampton should be
ashamed. I live there, and I know I am.
Hey Henry, I’m amazed at how entwined religion and money are. I hear
some people say that they are blessed with money. In the Bible,
money is referred to as “filthy Lucre.” Why would God reward people
with what He calls “filthy?” He says he’ll bless your crops, fields,
the fruit of your vine, and fatten your cattle. He never says he’ll
fatten your wallet!
Hey Henry, I was feeling pretty low when a friend said, “Cheer up!
Things could be worse!” So I cheered up, and sure enough, things got
worse.
