Free Vision Screening Eye's Right Contacts and Eyeglasses offers a free vision screening for children ages 4-12 every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The store is located at 6965 Hwy. 42 South, Suite 125, in Locust Grove.
Locust Grove Event Music in Mayors’ Walk Park in Locust Grove on September 7 from 7 - 9 p.m. A “Good Ole Hotdog Cart” will be on hand for supper in the park or come early and eat at the French Market. Conservative Breakfast Club The Conservative Breakfast Club kick-off will be Saturday, September 1 at 8:30 a.m. at Golden Corral on Jonesboro Road in McDonough (behind Truett's, in front of Sam's Club). All conservatives welcome, whether Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, Republican. The purpose is to provide a neutral ground for idea exchange. Come, let us reason together.
Blood Drive Bethany Baptist Church is sponsoring an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday August 22 from 2 to 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, 4 North Bethany Road, McDonough. This life-saving event is open to the community. The local chapter of the American Red Cross is entering participants into a drawing to win $3,000. Interested parties may sign up at www.redcrossblood.org. Bethany’s sponsor code is bethbc. Advance registration is not required however, donors are encouraged to drop by the event as well.
Hampton Event For race weekend Hampton will once again have Monte Dutton at the Friday Market on August 31 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. He plays guitar and sings and entertains with race related tales. The Friday Market, located at 2 West Main Street in Hampton, is open from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Then, from 1 - 2:30 p.m., Monte will be at Speak Easy Book Store, 5 East Main Street, for a signing of his latest book, Audacity of Dope.
Families Anonymous Families Anonymous, a worldwide Twelve-Step self-help support program for relatives and friends concerned about and affected by substance abuse or behavioral problems of a loved one, has announced the start of a new group in McDonough. This new group will meet at Wesley Way United Methodist Church in McDonough each Monday at 7 p.m. No dues or fees are required and they use first names only at the meetings to preserve individual anonymity. Camp Horizon needs volunteers Volunteer counselors are needed for Camp Horizon, a grief camp for children sponsored by Sacred Journey Hospice Foundation on August 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Training is approved by LPCA and will allow social workers and counselors to accumulate 4.0 CEU’s.
