Star Touring and Riding

  The McDonough Chapter of Star Touring and Riding has there monthly meeting on the last Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. in Chevy's just off the Square in McDonough. Enjoy family friendly fellowship with some fun loving folks that ride all kinds of bikes and go to all kinds of great destinations. Locust Grove Events

  Girls’ Night . . . in The Grove  June 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Enjoy a great night with the girls in Downtown Historic Locust Grove. There will be door prizes, a fashion show, music, and refreshments. The city councilmen and Downtown Development Authority gentlemen will be serving lemonade and cookies. Stores will be open late for shopping and the new Gallery . . . in the Grove will sponsor some of the door prizes.

 

Tomato Sandwich Party

   Community Gardens of Henry is hosting a tomato sandwich party on June 16 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wesley Way Community Gardens, 150 John Wesley Way, McDonough. The purpose is to raise funds to continue providing fresh vegetables for local food pantries through two Helping Harvests Gardens. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 16. Tickets are available at www.henrytomatoparty.org or at the event. The party will feature tours of the garden, music, door prizes, a silent auction, kids’ veggie potting, vendors, and a book signing by Edwin Marty, co-author of Breaking Through Concrete: Building an Urban Farming Revival. Interested vendors, sponsors, or anyone who would like to volunteer for the event or to work in the gardens, should contact the Gardens Director, Glenda Garris, at 770-954-0000.

 

Heritage Writers Group

   The Heritage Writers Group, has changed meeting times for the summer. There will be no meetings on Saturday mornings until September. However, the regular meetings on the first and third Tuesday nights of each month will continue as they have for the past nine years. HC Farmer’s Market

  The Henry County Farmers Market is open on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Jason T. Harper Event Center in Heritage Park in McDonough. As in years past, the market will run to September and feature a wide variety of locally grown produce, honey, handcrafted items and baked goods. Divots for Dollars Golf Tournament

  The 12th Annual “Divots for Dollars” Henry County Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 95, charity golf tournament will be held on June 15 at Cotton Fields Golf Course, located at 400 Industrial Blvd. in McDonough. They are a non-profit organization and this event is to raise money for their Christmas program “Sirens for Santa.” Contact Ken Turner or Teresa Turner at 678-300-7244.

 

NAMI Meeting

  Jodeco Road United Methodist Church has NAMI meetings every Thursday night from 7 - 8:30 p.m. sharp. They will serve coffee and water. The church is located at 1500 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge. Call Tricia at 770-957-8300 for more info.

 

Hampton Events

  The Friday Market is located at 2 West Main Street, and has new vendors each week.  It is open on Friday’s from 9 - 1 p.m. On Saturday, June 16 come take part in Crack-the-Safe Day at the Historic Hampton Depot Museum from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  Open the safe and find out its innermost secrets. Also that day they will have Old Photo Day at the Historic Hampton Depot Museum.  10 am- 2 pm.  Get your old Hampton related photos copied and get a complimentary copy and your original returned.  The Museum will receive a copy as will the Image Doctor of McDonough. At 2 pm, Scott will present a brief history of photography. This is a Main Street program in cooperation with the Image Doctor. 

 

Stockbridge High School Alumni Picnic

  The Stockbridge High School Alumni Picnic for classes 1966 - 1984 is on June 16, from 1 to 5 p.m. It will be at the Old Stockbridge High School (now Patrick Henry HS) There will be a live band and Shane’s BBQ will cater the event. Crossroads Career Network

  Crossroads Career Network meets at Stockbridge First UMC, 4863 N. Henry Blvd., Monday, June 18, 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall (lower level at rear of building) as members celebrate the program’s second anniversary. Guest speaker: Rev.
